Ensign Sharvi was walking back to his quarters from the ten forward, when he got lost. He turned down a corridor and saw it was off limits, so he turned around and went back the way he came. He pulled out his padd and looked at the ship’s schematics to see where he was.
Ensign SharviAs he looked back up, a Klingon in a Star Fleet uniform stood before him. “She will kill you. She is not strong enough to protect anyone.” The Klingon before him had a wound, a phaser burn, on his right hip. The burn mark was significant and even the smell of burning cloth and flesh wafted lightly past Tath’ihl’s nose. The hall lights flickered a moment and then stopped.
the ensign klingon looked up from his pad and asked “Who are you? Who are you talking about?” To the klingon that had just popped up from nowhere. This klingon wasn’t wearing a baldric so he couldn’t tell what house he was from.
“Don’t care for her.” The arm rose to point at the door just behind him. “See for yourself, she will kill you, too.”
The lights went out for a moment. When they came back up, the figure was gone. The room the apparition had pointed to was the door to Tath’s room. It was as if he had merely walked past it. Looking at his padd he would see it was, indeed, just three more doors ahead of him.No idea on what he just saw, he chalked it up to how fast he drank the blood wine. He’d heard the stories, this ship being haunted, but he also assumed it could just be a new crew member’s hazing ritual he heard humans loved doing. He opened the door to his room.
As he went about his quarters, the comm console would light up with a bright glow meant to catch his attention. When he looked at it, he would see Kalika’s service record. It would include the report of an away Mission gone wrong.
The Chief of Security was killed on the Away Mission, Kalika had been manning the transporters on the ship and hadn’t been part of the surface group. Of the five to go to the surface, one returned, barely alive. The others were left behind because recovery was too risky and comm badges had been removed to prevent transporter recovery. The report went on to show her psych eval afterwards where she admits the DH had been her fiancé as well as her Superior. They had fought about her joining the away mission and she blamed herself claiming that if she had been stronger, she would have talked him into a place at his side. She could have saved him. It went on over the course of several months to speak of night terrors she had where he came back to blame her. That his ghost claimed she was weak. Too weak to save him, and therefore too weak to have been a true mate to him. It had hurt her to the core. Despite being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant JG and taking over the CoS spot while another was brought aboard, she was unable to trust her gut instinct and eventually was granted a transfer to the ship furthest from Earth… the Viking.
He would also read her journals, med records and intakes from her arrival. He would see she had fallen asleep due to a chemical leak on her shuttle and drifted into an asteroid field. A shuttle from the Viking had luckily come across her just before her compromised shuttle tanks had exploded. The shuttle that rescued her was struck by another asteroid due to having to come into the field to be close enough for a beam out. The Viking got her and the crewman out before it was struck and went lifeless. Despite the shuttle being damaged, it was recovered. And Kalika’s journals spoke of her mate’s ghost haunting her, even now, on the ship. And the ship knowing things that she had never told anyone.
“See… she will kill you… she is not strong enough…” the voice would whisper just behind Tath as he read the accounts that scrolled on command as he went through them.
