“Run a diagnostic,” she called over her shoukder to whichever of her passengers may be listening. “See if we can pick up any heat signatures or signs of activity in those rooms.”
Kara Nakuto
Luna attempted to run a diegnostic on the area of the ship indicated. “ I think I got it set right “ Luna said.
Ensign LunaKristi frowned. “Shadows don’t talk, little angel.” She wasn’t sure why she called the child that, it just sort of …. fit. “I mean, unless you have an imaginary friend who is a shadow. I had a small targ when I was a child. It was make believe but it told me all kinds of neat secrets and even kept me company when I had a bad dream.” She tilted her head slightly to inquire. “Is that how the shadows speak to you?”
Kristi
Engineer“ no the shadows are alive some of them are monsters others were part on this ship” she said. She turned her head sideways. “ you don’t believe the are real your wrong they are” she added after a moment.
As the small shuttle aproached the section of the ship that was supposed to be dark, the lights turned off.
“Were we spotted? Those sections are supposed to be crew quaters. But no one was supposed to live there. A little power still flows to the dark section, so it would be possible something turned on on it’s own. Did scans show anything?”
Mike didn’t believe in coincidences that much.
Lt. Mike Stone, CE
“ I’m not picking up anything but it’s possible I set up the scan wrong” Luna said. She was mentally trying to decide if it was the area where her and Loki’s quarters were. She was not willing to admit to braking the rules however.
Ensign Luna
Kristi frowned. “Honey, I’m sorry you’ve seen monsters. But the shadows aren’t bad. I’ll show you. Can you stay up here and not disappear again? If so, I’ll even let you stay till your mommy comes back in.” She knew it was a long shot, trying to get a toddler to agree to anything. But she had to make her promise. Perhaps if no other reason than get her to not flit about in case she was in the wrong place when the shuttle returned.
She stood up and moved to the door and waited for the child’s answer. There was a place on the hanger floor were the light wasn’t working. She would step into that dark space and show the child there was nothing to be afraid of.
