Hours had passed before anyone had decided to speak. They all knew they were headed to a very strange and very strangely named nebulae. Silence permeated the Bridge as a chirrup rang out to alert the crew they had arrived. The main screen lit up on it’s own accord, showing a vast nebulae. The sheer size of it couldn’t even be measured by eye alone as it seemed to pulsates with a dark rythem. Clouds of deep purple and inky blacks swirled in places, making random shapes to some. A few times one twisted like a body in agony before bending back into a gentle flow of energy and dust. A few ships could be made out within the edges of some clouds and just outside others. Each looking more ancient than the last. Two distinct Star-Fleet vessels could be made out as well. The silhouette of a Miranda so old it still had four digit registry number hung dead in space, debris floating near it’s deflector showing rather clear evidence of a failed attempt at something. The other known vessel was an Ambassador class vessel. Her registry showed her as a ship that had gone missing very recently. The lack of even running lights not boding well for it either. Her hull being slightly obscured as the nebulae changed. The very ebb and flow making it difficult to pin down the event horizon. The Casa del Diablo awaits.

Nevin rose from the centre seat on the bridge. The sight on the screen was quite breathtaking and were it not be for the two ships in view, he would have been lulled into a false sense of security regarding their mission.
=/\=Akorem to Ravenfall. We are on point. Please report to the bridge,=/\= he said to summon her.
He turned his back on the spectacle filling the viewscreen in order to face the officers manning the tactical & science stations.
“This is our very last go / no go check,” he said, “Tell me everything you can about the current state of those ships and what they were trying to achieve. Are their data cores and autonomic systems still online? Survivors? Atmosphere? Hull Breaches? Anything at all. I want to be certain we are not taking an unnecesary risk.”

Peter leaned forward in his seat as he stared at the debris, the ship graveyard. It gave him an eery deja vu of the war except this somehow felt more sinister. He looked at the Commander from his seat “In twenty-five years I’ve never seen anything quite like that.” He said leaning back and looking at his systems display to read what he could as the information came in.

The data flow would show no hull breaches, no power. No life support. The only signs of life are them being there and the debris field outside the air locks on one. The Ambassador class ship also showing signs of scorching along the hull bear crew quarters windows..

Stone arrived to the bridge. While his ususaly station was in engineering, he still wanted to see what they were getting in.
“Oh, shit.” he said, summing up what he thought about this mission, and what he was seeing. This was a space ship graveyard… and they were next in line to enter.
“Do we know when that Ambassador class went missing? Even if no one is alive over there any longer, perhaps we could tow it out and inspect it a bit closer from safe distance of the nebula. I’m sure there must be at least some logs or clues as to what happened to it and the crew.” he suggested.

T’Shura had been given a shift on the bridge and after a quick accessing glance of the screen she bent over her sensor panel to get the information that the XO had requested.”No hull breaches, power, or life support, sir. There are signs of scorching on the Ambassador class to suggest a confrontation of some type. Fine tuning the scans to rule out environmental influences and looking for any other signs of vessel travel.” She programmed the scans to look for all known forms of radiation, weapon and engine signatures. Then set up a second one to map out the nebula and its radiation and gravitational forces. Had the ships been disabled if not by combat…

Ensign Luna was staring at the veow screen shocked by what she was seeing. She was currently at the security station. She was pulled out of her stunned silence by the XO’s voice. She quietly started keying camand into the computer she wanted to cross reference the scorch marks on the side of the ship with the weapons of know species that traveled near the nebula. That would tell her what kind of ships to be on the lookout for if I was an atack.
Ensign LunaThere would be no known pattern of weapon that made scorch Mark’s like that. Due to the grade of duranium and other alloys making up the hull of the vessel it would have taken a high grade heat to cause the scorching on the hull. However, it mostly resembled being bathed in fires hit enough to burn through the shields.

“ camander it’s like the ship was set on Fire” Luna said looking at the results. She thought for a moment “ are there any species native to this nebula” Luna asked.
Ensign Luna“Lieutenant?” Nevin said looking for T’Shuru’s insight into native species.

“Checking, sir.” T’Shura mentally chastised herself. It should have been her first check. She quickly tapped into the library computer to see if there were any known races or planets within range of this nebula. Also she checked to see if this was on any trade routes.

Reduced to a mere passenger, the Viking’s former captain had no remit to be told the details of their current mission. It was only through idle chatter in the Heorot that she had learned of their destination at all. But idling in her empty quarters while the action continued without her had been a torturously impossible task, antithesis to every strand of human and Klingon dna within her.
Stepping, without invitation, onto the bridge, Nakuto’s purposeful strides brought her level with the centre seat before the shame of reality flushed her cheeks and she retreated quickly to the nearest wall. This space, so familiar, so enticing still, was no longer her domain. She could not afford to forget that.
Kara’s uninvited presence did not go un-noticed by Nevin who had been expected Ravenfall to exit the turbolift doors when he heard them part. Nevertheless, he was greatful of her presence, and heaven forbid, should the need for her to take command be required, he knew he could trust both her ability and that the crew would follow her.
“Captain,” Nevin said simply as a greeting and subtly tell her that despite not being invited, she was welcome to remain.
On the viewscreen the nebula glowed ominously before them, the antique vessels like flies caught within the tangled web of a giant arachnid. Nakuto took a moment to study the image in fascinated horror, before shuffling quietly over to the engineering station and Lieutenant Stone.
“The morning’s diagnostics are…satisfactory, Sir,” she whispered to her de-facto boss. “The warp core is as stable as I’ve seen it in a long time, impulse engines online and at full power. But,” she added as her eyes were once more drawn towards the nebula, “if we get caught by the gravitational pull of that thing, I’m not sure we’d have sufficient strength to get ourselves out again.”
