Pausing when he heard the panicked voice of Luna, Loki waited for her to catch up with him and then gave her his usual, charming grin.
“Relax, Luna,” he said, reaching out and pulling both her and the sleeping Crenity into an embrace. “You are not losing your mind. I am real and I am here. And,” he added, laughing. “I really do need to go and call my parents before they arrive on the Viking looking for me.”

He seemed to consider something and then, his smile growing even wider, he added, “Why don’t you and Crenity come too? I guess it’s as good a time as any for them to meet their first grandchild.”

Luna relaxed some. She thought for a moment before speaking again.” Two things do your parents even know about us also we will have to keep Crenity’s wings and ability secret until the meet her in person. I don’t want to risk a scientist finding out and coming after her” Luna said and moved to follow Loki.

“No,” Loki replied, a sheepish expression crossing his face. “No, they don’t know about you. I…haven’t been that great at keeping in touch with them.”

He took note of Luna’s warning not to reveal too much information about his daughter and nodded in agreement. Their last brush with the men who dared to call themselves scientists, the ones who had hurt Luna, remained a painful memory and he had no desire to see Crenity suffer the same fate.

“We tell them only what you want them to know, Luna,” he promised.

Luna only nodded her agreement. She walked with Loki to call his parents and was thankful that the child was asleep. Crenity had a habit of saying things that should not be said.

“Okay then,” Loki stated with a nervous sigh. “Let’s do this.”

The terminal in his, and now Luna’s, quarters had not been working in some time. He’d asked engineering to take a look but with all of the ship’s defects screaming for the overworked crew’s attention, Loki knew that a personal terminal would be relegated to the very bottom in terms of priorities. He took a moment to consider where might be a suitable place to hold such a personal conversation.

“The brig,” he announced, taking Luna’s hand and leading her along a corridor to the nearest turbolift.

Once inside the metal carriage and with the rest of the ship momentarily out of sight, the bearded security officer wasted no time in pulling his love gently towards him and kissing her fully for the first time since they had been reunited.
“I missed you so much,” he whispered against her cheek. And for those few, stolen moments, nothing else existed in his world except Luna and their beautiful daughter, Crenity.

But the moment was brief and all-too-soon rudely interrupted by a digital chirp. They had arrived.

The deck was in almost total darkness, a faint blue glow in the distance indicating the location of the holding cells.
“Do we have anyone in custody right now?” he whispered to Luna as they inched their way along the corridor. The last time that Loki had found himself in this part of the ship, it had been to deliver a pathologically twisted doctor into captivity, the animals that he had tortured finally under the care of the Viking’s medical staff.

The burly man shivered. He’d always hated it here. Something in this area always felt…’off’ somehow.
