Mike hated transporters, but he used them because he’d built and assembled them. Anything he could put together he could use, and being that he’d spent–until 4 years ago–his entire adult life building Starships, he trusted most of them in service today. That being said, he didn’t know why he was standing outside the CE’s office as nervous as a small child sent to the principal’s office. He chalked it up to nerves. He’d finally acted on the insatiable wanderlust he’d felt since he was a child and began admiring the Starfleet personnel that explored the stars. So after spending a few long tedious years in the shipyards, he’d signed up, originally he didn’t want to go Engineering, but it was about the only thing he was good at.
After steeling himself, Mike rang the chime, forcing himself to not run away with the level of nervousness he was feeling.

OOC: So sorry to keep you waiting, Katy!
IC: “Come,” came a somewhat stern-sounding female voice from within. Upon entering, Thompson would find a small but impeccably neat room arranged without any hint of personal decoration. Immediately infront of him, making a right-angle to the left wall, was a large desk with precisely one chair behind it and two infront. On top of the desk was one terminal, a neatly-balanced stack of PaDD’s and a digital schematic of the warp core on a portable screen. The right side of the room held a chain of wall terminals stretching the full width of the room. On these displays were diagnostics currently reporting on all major ship systems: warp core and propulsion, tactical systems, transporters, life support systems, environmental controls and replicators.
Currently standing before one of these terminals, specifically the one reporting on replicator functions, was a tall, slender female wearing an engineering red dress. Around her cuffs, the gold bands signified her as a Lieutenant and on her head, the pointed ears peeking through her long, black hair signified her as a Vulcan. She appeared to be studying the information on the screen before her with great intensity, her back remaining to Michael as he entered.
“It appears that Ensign Cooper has ordered three double cheeseburgers already this morning and it is only ten-hundred hours,” she remarked, incredulously. “And Ensign Clark is already on her second large glass of red wine.”
