Stovik stood quietly beside one of the unoccupied biobeds, his hands folded neatly behind his back as Sickbay carried on around him. The bright clinical lighting reflected softly off the polished surfaces of the medical equipment while scanners hummed and chirped in steady intervals throughout the room.

The Vulcan had already announced his arrival several moments earlier and now simply waited with the calm patience characteristic of his species. His dark robes contrasted sharply against the pale medical environment and Starfleet uniforms moving about the ward, making him difficult to overlook despite his otherwise reserved demeanor.

His attention drifted briefly toward a nearby diagnostic monitor as its readings scrolled across the display. Even idle, his mind catalogued details automatically—the calibration cycle of the scanners, the efficiency of personnel movement, the slight variance in the environmental controls compared to Vulcan medical facilities.

After a moment he spoke again, his voice even and controlled, directed toward the nearest available member of the medical staff.

“For the sake of procedural efficiency, I should reiterate that Vulcan neural and cardiovascular baselines frequently produce false-positive alerts in standard Federation medical systems unless properly adjusted.”

The statement was delivered without arrogance or impatience. Merely fact.

Having offered the clarification, Stovik returned to silence and waited for whichever physician or nurse would conduct his intake examination.

Turning her head from her current focus, Hart took in the Vulcan. “Oh, I assure you, we’re very well aware. Have a seat and I’ll be with you momentarily.” Dressed in the white nurse’s uniform, Leah was short but with a muscular build. Her dark brown hair was tied up in a tidy braid and she moved with efficient and well practiced motions as she inputted data while simultaneously checking on some test results.

A few moments later, she set down the PADD and moved over to his bed and entered a few commands into the biobed controls. “Hello, I’m Nurse Leah Hart, Nurse practitioner and senior nurse. How can I help you, Stovik?” she said, his name and file already already linked from when he first announced himself.

“Good afternoon, Nurse Hart. I am here for my boarding physical.” Stovik said as he stood quietly, hands tucked up inside the opposite sleeves of his robes. A typical Vulcan stance that made the older Vulcan look even more venerable than he was. “Science specialist Stovik.”

“Welcome aboard the Sentinel,” she said, flashing an easy smile. “Now, I’m guessing that you have probably been through a few of these exams, so I know that you know that they are most easily done if you’re on the biobed. But if you prefer to do so standing, I can accommodate that.” Her experience with many Vulcans was that they were unlikely to pick up her teasing, but then again, she’d also worked with those that had no gone through the purge of emotions, and thus, she tried not to assume. Either way, he was preoccupied, or hadn’t fully heard her instruction to take a seat. But Leah was Leah and she liked to find humour in the small things throughout her day.

Stovik blinked for a moment and a wry eyebrow rose, “My apologies, Nurse Hart.” He said as he gave a quick bow in a Vulcan apology before he laid himself down on the biobed.
