Maliia turned to the owner. “Alright, this video footage. We need to see it now if we can.”

Damas gestured with his head. “We can pull it up from my office. This way.”

He led them around the bar and down the corridor that Sudin has gone down before Alaria arrived. Hanging a left at a T-junction (the right went to the washrooms), he moved to a door and entered in a code. The lock beeped and he opened it, holding the weighted auto-close door for them.

Inside the modest and pleasantly lit office, Damas had a large desk, a couple small shelves with trinkets and small boxes, and a replicator. There was a small counter beside the replicator with a sink. A door was in the back corner.

At the desk were a set of two comfortable looking armless chairs. “Alright, pull up a seat and we’ll see what we can find.” Leaning over the desk he typed in something and then he pulled his chair to the side of the desk, swivelling the computer monitor so they could see it. The security program was on display. “Okay, pulling footage from last night. We can start with all cameras”-he tapped a couple keys and the screen split into six boxes. “Okay, so top row is front entrance, back emergency exit, adn the washroom hallway. Bottom row are the three cameras covering the bar. How early do you want to start?”

Tai turned to Tracey. “Makes sense to start with when your crew arrived and see how it goes from there.” She flicked her gaze back to Damas. “If we see them on screen, can we have the program search for them in the rest of the footage.” He nodded. She looked back at Morgan. “Unless you just want to view it straight through?” It was hard to know exactly when Kelreden showed up since they only had a rough idea when he ‘ran into’ Leah. She didn’t want to miss something crucial, but slogging through hours of footage was something she could get someone back at the constabulary to do.

~Constable Maliia and Co.

“Let’s feed Daro’s photo in and search for him. We know that whatever happened, happened after he arrived. Let’s start there. See when he arrived.”

Morgan, sec

Maliia nodded in agreement and gestured to Damas.

He captured the image they had of Daro and uploaded it for comparison. Then set the program to scan for his likeness. It took a couple of minutes before it flagged some hits.

“Okay, the first we see is this,” Damas said, enlarging the image. It was fairly clear and showed Daro at the front door with the bouncer, having made it to the front of the line. This was at 2300 hours.

“So he enters well before Lieutenant Hart’s friends leave,” Tai said. It didn’t mean anything per say. It was a fairly large space, and if it was as busy as the staff said it was then in the dark it could take awhile to run into someone, even intentionally.

The second hit came up at the bar at 2310. He was on the far side away from the dance floor, closer to the hallway they had just gone down. He got a drink and moved off away from the dance floor and out of sight.

The third and final hit came up at 0052 hours. “This is the last one, but it’s only got a 60% match, because of the lighting.” It was from one of the bar cameras that angled out towards the dance floor and covered the end of the L of the bar. It also caught a few of the tables people could stand at that were between the bar and the dance floor. It was not the clearest but they could still make out what likely was Leah standing with Alaria on her left, but they could only view the women mostly from the back, unless either of them turned their faces towards each other. Someone who looked to be Daro was on her right, with a little bit more space than there was between her and Alaria. Then again, the tables were not all that big in diameter, keeping people in fairly close proximity. It looked like the three were chatting, a drink each on the table in front of them.

“The clip is longer than the others,” Damas said.

“Play it all,” Tai said.

It kept going. For the next eight minutes, they talk and sip on their drinks. At one point, Daro reached out and possibly touched Leah’s arm. She leaned away a bit towards Alaria. They kept talking, but then Leah turned away from Daro and leaned in to say something in Alaria’s ear. It was fairly brief, but Alaria’s lowered her head and leaned in so she could hear what Leah was saying. Daro moved a bit and his arm moved over the table, but they couldn’t see exactly what, if anything, he did. The clip kept going for another couple of minutes, but then more people moved in to view, blocking the camera’s view of Daro and the women. The clip ended.

“Does that help at all?” Damas asked.

Maliia gave a surreptitious glance at Morgan. It was clear the constable was not thrilled. “If you could send the Constabulary all of this footage, that would be great. Then I’ll make sure Lieutenant Morgan here gets a copy for her side of the investigation.” Damas nodded.

The Constable’s comm chirped. She pulled it out and glanced down. “I have to take this. I’ll be right back. Lieutenant, if there’s anything you want to see, let him know. We’ll compare notes after I’m back.”

Maliia stepped out of the office.

~Constable Maliia and Co.

“Do you have any outside cameras or know if any other nearby establishments have them? Did your man at the door see how they left?” Morgan asked.

Morgan, sec

“We have the camera at the front door, and inside at the back door. Our staff at the door are usually paying more attention to people entering, than leaving, but we can ask when they come in. They might not have come up on the front camera if there were other people blocking the view. That and their backs would be to the camera, so harder to flag,” Dama said.

“If it’s alright, I would like to take a copy of the feed with me and see if we can spot anything,” Morgan said.

“Of course, Damas said.

Tai entered again and wore a neutral expression until she set her eyes on Tracey. She gestured with her head to the side of the room and waited till the security officer joined her.

“Excuse me,” she said to Damas. She walked over to Maliia and nodded.

Constable Maliia kept her voice down so Damas couldn’t hear. “We got an additional warrant to search the PADD he had on him. Our tech was able to get past the password and found some interesting things. Namely that Kelreden booked not just the Kartoa Resort a month ago, but several in the area, all known to be resorts that Starfleet officers frequent when on R&R, including the Liorema Resort where Hart and her friends were staying. Our staff are working through the list, but Kelreden cancelled all but one of the bookings five days ago, which coincides with when he said he spoke to Leah’s sister and found out where she was staying.”

~~Constable Maliia and Co.

Tracy nodded slowly. “I need to contact my Chief.” She stepped out and opened her communicator. [O] Morgan to sh’Kellirathras. Sir, we’ve had a development. I think you might want to come down here.[C]

Morgan, sec

Dovek relaid the coms to the the XO. [O] “Very well, I’ll beam down shortly” [C ]

He mad his way to the transporter room and before to long the Andorian was standing beside her. “What do you heave for me?” he asked

Commander Thraz sh’Kellirathras,
Executive Officer, USS Sentinel

Morgan nodded, “Cmdr sh’Kellirathras, this is Constable Maliia. Constable this is our head of security. Constable Maliia got a warrent to search a PaDD that was found in Daro’s hotel room. It is telling,” Morgan said.

Morgan, sec

He looked at Morgan, “Well and I supposed to guess or can I see the data?” he asked with a little sarcasim in his voice.

Commander Thraz sh’Kellirathras,
Executive Officer, USS Sentinel

Maliia gazed at the man for a long moment. “The PADD is in custody of the constabulary, but I was called with the details. It seems Mr. Kelreden booked several hotels in areas frequented by Starfleet officers. Then, a few days ago, he cancelled all his reservations except for the place ended up staying at. It’s next door to Lt. Hart’s, of course. According to the timeline he gave at the hospital, he spoke with Lt. Hart’s sister and foud out where she was staying. That was the same day he cancelled the other bookings.”

She gestured to the office the owner was still in. “We’ve reviewed some of the footage from that night. Kelreden entered the club well before before Hart’s friends leave. We spoke with the woman Leah was dancing with, Alaria , and she fills in some of the rest for us. She said that she went to get them drinks from the bar and Leah found one of the standing tables for them. When Alaria found Leah, a man was with her and Leah introduced him as Daro adn said he was an old friend, but that Leah hinted it was her ex. Kelreden was very touchy with Leah, but she rebuffed any contact and didn’t seem to trust him. At one point in the footage we see Leah lean over to say something into Alaria’s ear, their head lowered. We see Kelreden lean over the table a little towards Leah’s glass, but he was blocking the view. The clip ends after other guests move in front of the table and block the camera’s view. But Alaria did say that Leah had gone from relaxed and carefree with Alaria to being withdrawn and tense after Daro showed up. Then her behaviour changed and she seemed relaxed again and more flirty. Alaria seemed concerned with the change, especially since Leah had just told her that she was possibly going to end their evening early and go back to her hotel. They all kept talking but then it got to a time when Alaria had to leave because she had to work in the morning. Alaria tried to get Leah to leave with her, but Daro wanted to talk a few more minutes and Leah reluctantly agreed. On her way out, Alaria asked her friend at the bar, who is the manager, to keep an eye out for them, but he had said it was really busy and he only remembered her because she had been dancing with Alaria. We’re waiting to interview the two running security at the door to see if they saw them leave.”

Tai sighed. “Right now we have a whole lot of pieces of crucial information, but too many that are circumstantial. We need something more concrete. We need either solid evidence that Kelreden drugged her here at the club, or we need a confession. We are holding Kelreden at the constabulary. We have a couple more staff members from the club to question who are coming in early and on their way. The bouncers. I’m open to ideas about where you think we should go from here.” All she knew so far was there was no way she could pres scharges with what they had so far. They just wouldn’t stick. Not enough for court proceedings to go forward.

~Constable Maliia and Co.

Bump

Tracy wasn’t one to fidget as she thought. She simply had a focused stare as she thought over the pieces. “If we could trace the drug he used, find out where it was manufactured, or where he bought it, we could pin point when it was purchased. If it really was spur of the moment or premeditation.” She looked at Thraz, “We could have someone search his home back on Earth and examine his computer trace. See who else he was talking to, what he was looking at, if and how he was keep track of Lt. Hart.”

Morgan, sec

“See to it, I want to talk to the bouncers” he said, “When will they be here?” he asked shifting through his notes.. Bouncers were often the gates to the drugs in a club it’s possible he got the halusinagin from them.

Commander Thraz sh’Kellirathras,
Executive Officer, USS Sentinel

OOC: Bumping this part for a response.

“Right away Cmdr.” She turned to Maliia. “Thank you for your help.” She stepped outside the building and tapped her comms beaming back to the Sentinel. She couldn’t do anything about tracking the drug until the civilian labs finished with it. She sought out the comms officer to get her a direct link to Star Fleet Security back on Earth. She explained the situation. Security Command said someone would search his home back on Earth and examine his computer trace that day. They would who else he was talking to, what he was looking at, if and how he was keep track of Lt. Hart. They promised to get back in touch with her in less than 24 hours.

Morgan, Sec

Tai nodded to Morgan as she slipped away and then held up a finger to the XO to ask to give her a moment. She popped back into the office briefly and thanked Damas for his time and for getting them copies of the feed.

Back in the corridor, she gestured to Thraz. “The bouncers are on their way and were called a little while ago. Damas said they’d be here in a minute. We’ll meet them at the bar.”

Leading him back through to the main part of the club, Maliia returned to the bar and saw two men talking to Sudin, the bar manager she and Tracey had spoken to earlier.

Sudin gave a nod. “Constable, Commander, this is Kas and Dousin. They worked last night, trading from doing front door security and then patrolling the back.”

Kas was a Human appearing male who very tall, but not as stocky as one sometimes assumed bouncers to be. Dousin, a Risan, was a shorter than Kas but much broader and had a sterotypical look.

“You have questions about some of the guests last night?” Dousin said.

Maliaa gave Thraz a look, curious to see what he might ask them first.

~Constable Maliia and Co.

Thraz followed her into the bar, he cared little for what went on in these clubs, he did care when it harmed one of his officers. “Thank you for taking the time to speak with me” he said, his antenna turned to face them as if they were about to conduct the interrogation themselves. To a point they may a little sense things like drugs on the men’s persons, nervousness in their words and actions that might otherwise go unnoticed. “Tell me he, are drugs a common occurrence here in the club?”

Commander Thraz sh’Kellirathras,
Executive Officer, USS Sentinel

The eyes of both men went wide, and they looked at each other before looking back at Thraz. “Uh, no, absolutely not,” Dousin said. “Damas has a strict anti-drug policy. That’s not to say that people don’t try or sneak stuff in, but if they are caught, they are tossed out and banned from returning.” He snorted. “People get rowdy enough with alcohol. Adding drugs to the mix just makes it that much harder to keep things safe.”

Maliia pulled out the image of Hart but didn’t show it to them yet. “What was your impression of last night. What was the vibe? Any issues that stand out?”

Kas shook his head. “Nah, it was a pretty normal night. Busy though. A lot of people. But that’s pretty usual when Starfleet ships come in for R&R. We get an influx of people. But it was pretty straight forward. The usual odd bar fight. The occasional underage youth trying to sneak in.”

~Constable Maliia and Co.

“I see” he said not really sure that he believed that, but he was not hear for that just keeping things shifting focus wise. “An this woman” he said giving a nod to the consitible. “what can you tell me about her?” he asked

Commander Thraz sh’Kellirathras,
Executive Officer, USS Sentinel

Tai flipped the image around and held it up so they could both see her. Kas leaned in and gazed at her more deeply, and nodded slowly, breaking into a smile. “Ahh yeah, I remember her. I was on the door for the first half of the night and she was with a group of friends. Starfleet folk on leave. We were chatting a bit when they got to to the front of the line and were waiting to be let in. They all seemed in a good mood, happy. This woman was joking about the club not having a dancing competition. And her friends assured me that it was to our benefit given she had been a competitive dancer. Then I got the signal to let more in and off they went.” Kas chuckled. “Not everyone is chatty with the bouncer unless they’re trying to get us to bend rules, but they were nice and it was a pleasant moment. Notable.”

Dousin was studying the image intently with a frown. Eventually he just shook his head. “I was on the door later, and if they were already inside when I came on, then I’d only recognize her when she left. I don’t remember her, or… at least I don’t think I do. I don’t remember her face, but then again if I was dealing with the line, I might have only seen the back of her head. She seems vaguely familiar, but I can’t how. Sorry.”

~Constable Maliia and Co.

“Did either of you see her leave with anyone, or anyone acting out of place or doing anything strang. ” he asked. “Even something that just did not feel right to you.”

Commander Thraz sh’Kellirathras,
Executive Officer, USS Sentinel

Both of the men shook their heads. “Not really,” Kas said. “We had a couple incidents later on before closing, but those were elsewhere in the club. Didn’t involve that woman in the photo.”

Dousin looked puzzled for a moment and leaned in towards the constable. “You know, if I stare at her, she definitely looks like she could be that woman I saw leaving. She was with a guy, that’s all I know. More than a little drunk, but that’s pretty usual around here. I think she laughed.” He frowned and shook his head. “Sorry, there was a lot of people and a lot happening all at once. Hard to not get confused between people.”

Maliia inwardly groaned. There was so much uncertainty that it wasn’t helping clarify much, though her instincts told her a great deal. Right now they needed more concrete evidence and she doubted the bouncers would be able to help them much.

~Constable Maliia and Co.

“What were the other incidents?” he asked, sometimes things that seemed unrelated were not, she was not one who was prone to getting drunk and losing control, it seemed unlikely if they could track where he got the drug from it would help.

Commander Thraz sh’Kellirathras,
Executive Officer, USS Sentinel

Dousin thought through the night. “One drunken fight between two supposed friends. Apparently there was a girl they were fighting over. And there was one woman who slipped in the bathroom and hit her head. EMS looked her over and she was fine. Just a bump. Her and friends were given instructions about what to look out for concussion wise and she was told to seek help if any of those started to happen. They went home and it was fine.”

Maliaa tilted her head. “When was that?”

Dousin looked at Kas. “It was after 2 am, I know that much.”

“Closer to 2:30. By the time EMS left we were getting ready to close for 3 am,” Kas said. “It happened just before last call, which is at 2:30.”

The constable nodded and looked at Thraz. “Hart arrived at her next location at 0130, and was seen on the footage at 0052, so we are estimating she left here about twenty minutes later, give or take a few minutes, depending on whether they walked or not?”

~Constable Maliia and Co.

“Do you have video of that woman and her Group?” it was a hunch but if her friends returned and if one of them hit thier head it’s possible that maybe they had gotten druged as well untinetionally buy thier suspect. Maybe a dring interception, or a sip or two off of Hearts drink so it took longer to kick in. HE also rewatched the video from that angle as well, her friends and what they were doing with relation to the suspect and Heart.

Commander Thraz sh’Kellirathras,
Executive Officer, USS Sentinel

The bouncers shrugged and looked at Sudin, the manager who was still behind the bar if case he was needed. He had been following the conversation, of course. “It’s possible. There’s no cameras in the bathroom, naturally, but maybe the ones at the bar caught them. You’d all have to go back and see Damas again to see about the footage, but I remember the woman who slipped. She wasn’t all that drunk. Her and her friends had confirmed that she had slipped on some water in her rather high heels.

Meanwhile, Lt. Morgan received the copy of the requested footage of Hart and Co. from Damas, and Starfleet Security sent a message through the ship that they had received the warrant from the civilian law enforcement and someone from the San Francisco PD would be accompanying their officers in executing the search within the hour.

~Constable Maliia and Co.

On board the Sentinel Morgan recieved the footage and began to run the information through their facial recognition software as well as image enhancing protocols.
