Rende sat at her desk in her quarters staring at the dispatch that Rand had just given her. Poor girl. Despite her composure Rende could hear the excitement and sadness in Rand’s voice. Rende thought it was excellent and had actually put the bug in command’s ear. It was well deserved. It was her loss, but an exciting opportunity. “Thank you, Rand. Dismissed.” Once the door closed Rende pressed the ship comm button on her desk. [O]Cmdr Alden report to Captain Asam immediately.[C]

It was not long before Roman arrived at the door of the office. “Captain?” He asked as the door opened.

Rende smiled at him as he came in. “Hello Roman. Have a seat. Tea? I had Rand bring it.” She motioned to a cup across from her. “I have some news.”

Roman took the tea with a nod of thanks. “Thank you. What news requires such a formal meeting?” he asked.

“This will probably surprise you, but I have new orders here for you.” She turned the computer screen around. On it was orders from Star Fleet Science Command, naming Alden CO of the research facility to be set up on Kelmao. He would get to choose his own staff, and determine the parameters of the research conducted. If he accepted a transport was in route to meet him in two weeks to transfer him.

There were notes of surprise, excitement, but also sadness and doubt. “I- what? Really?” He said, looking at Adam after reading the screen. “In two weeks?”
