“Fair,” he said with a nod and then began to run the footage. Leah went into her suite not long after checking in and then she emerged just before 1900 hours. She goes down the lift. No one other than people going into their own rooms nearby or the occasional porter appears.

Leah came back up into her suite around 2030 hours and Nurse Montri and Dr. Hunter appear about an hour later all dressed up. They knock on Hart’s door and Leah appears, also ready for their night out. They leave together a few minutes later.

While they were watching the footage with an accelerated speed, it was clear that Leah didn’t return to her room that night, nor did anyone else show up on the floor that seemed out of the ordinary.

Nothing out of the ordinary there. “Thank you, Okar. I appreciate your help.” She paused, “Do you have cameras outside? I would like to see if anyone followed them as they left last evening.”

“One at the entrance and some around the building and perimeter of the property. But let’s start with entrance, since they would have gone out the front if they were going to go to the clubs down the road.”

Switching views, they saw the quartet leave and walk down the main walkway to the front of the resort property. There were people passing and at one point a young woman was behind them, but she split off in a different direction once they all reached the main road and embraced another woman there before they went off together. Renu blew out a breath. “Well, I’ve seen a lot of different scenarios over the years, but this all seems normal. We can fast forward to when they returned, which I understand was only three of them? Unless you want to see something else?”

Morgan nodded, “Just to be thorough let’s look at when they arrived back.” A thought occurred to her, “Does your system keep track of when the doors to the rooms are opened?”

“Yes and no. We know when the key cards are used. Those records are archived a week after a guest checks out,” Renu said. He skipped ahead to the time noted when Hart’ friends returned. It was at 0037 hours. They entered through the lobby in good spirits, but it was just the three of them. Leah hadn’t come back with them as they all originally explained. There were no people hanging around or watching them and the lobby was quiet.

“I’ll pull Hart’s key card records,” he said. A few moments later he shrugged. “Hmmm. Well, It all looks as expected. She checked in, came back after their dinner, the key card hasn’t been used since. A security master keycard was used when they went to do a wellness check. That’s it.”

“Alright. Thank you for your help, Renu. I really appreciate it.” Morgan shook his hand. “If you hear anything please contact the Sentinel.” She left and made her way to the resort where Leah had been found. She entered the lobby and made her way to the desk. She introduced herself and explained why she was there.

The young man at the desk hadn’t been working last night and had come onto his shift hearing about all the excitement last night. “I wasn’t working, but my colleague, Tamu was, and she told me the woman was taken to hospital. We’ll help however we can and I hope she’s doing okay. What do you need?”

“She’s finally awake, but she doesn’t remember anything. I was hoping that you might have security cameras I could look at?” Morgan asked.

Tamu nodded. “I’ll get someone from security to come meet you.”

Much like at the other resort, the head of security came out and she introduced herself as Quielle. The tall blond-haired Risian lead Morgan to the security admin area. “Do you have a time you’d like to start looking at and an area?”

“I need to see footage of the exits and access points from the time one Daro Kelreden checked in until about an hour ago.” She also showed Quielle a picture of Hart. “Can you run facial recognition and track her movements?”

Using the image, Quielle ran it through the system at the same time as she queried Daro’s room access. “Okay, Kelreden checked in to Room 118 two days ago at 1630 hours. He come and went throughout the next two days and last night he left at 2000 hours. And…” She pointed to the time and the image of Leah with her arm in Daro’s It also looked like he was supporting her as she seemed to be a bit tipsy. “They returned at 0130. We see her next on a camera near the exit at the pool deck at 0326. It’s down the far end of his floor. We can’t see the incident from here, but, look…” Leah was wide-eyed and stumbling far worse than earlier. She turned and headed toward the pool deck.

“After that she doesn’t show up, because of course EMS took her to the hospital. But Kelreden left his room at 0340, which was a few minutes after EMA left with her.” They could see a list of cameras picking up his presence around the property. “He returned to his room at 0415 and left again fifteen minutes later. He hasn’t returned.”

“Would it be possible to speak to the staff and guests that they passed coming in and when he left?” Morgan asked.

Quielle bobbed her head. “Staff, probably. Guests are a maybe. We can see if anyone is still around, but it’s a wide window of time and that will be a lot of records to cross-reference. Is there a specific question you’re hoping to get an answer to? Maybe we can find the answer a simpler way?” She wanted to be helpful but she was mindful of resources and the time in involved needed to be worth the outcome.

“Just basic questions really. Did anyone see her, over hear anything, observe anything out of the ordinary. That sort of thing,” Morgan said.

Quielle pondered this and slowly nodded. “I’ll have to check with concierge and see who is still around and Housekeeping can confirm who might have been on, but there wouldn’t have been any cleaning at those hours. “But one person we might be able to track down is the bystander who jumped into the pool to help her. He gave the paramedics a basic statement, but since it wasn’t a law enforcement case yet, he wasn’t questioned further. I’m not sure if that would help your investigation or not.”
