After completing her physical in Sickbay Chandel made her way to the Commander’s office. Despite her vast life experiences she couldn’t ever say she had expected something like this. Never mind the Commander being her DH, he was also the XO. Talk about intimidating!
Taking a deep breath she rang the chime.Ensign Chandel Sci
“Enter,” called a crisp, British voice. The Commander was a tall, well dressed, well kept man with ice blue eyes and dark brown, impeccably cut and worn hair. “Ensign.... Chandel, was it?” He asked as she entered. “I had expected you this morning. Unfortunately space travel can be unpredictable.” He said, and gestured towards a chair in the clean, extremely neat, office. “Sit, please. Would you like a cup of tea?”
~ Cmdr Alden, XO/CSO
Chandel nodded as she took the indicated seat, “A cup of tea would be nice, sir, thank you.” As she waited for the tea she glanced around the office to get a sense of her new Commander and DH.

Roman stood and went to the replicator, returning with two cups of tea. He gave one to her and kept one himself. The office was impeccably neat, not a thing out of place. Some service awards hung on the wall. There was nothing at all personal, it was all duty related or necessary. “Let’s see…” He had her file on a PaDD. “What is your scientific specialty?” He asked, looking at her.

Chandel accepted the tea with a smile as she answered, “Astrophysics and Astrobiology, sir. I wrote a paper my final year in the Academy on the Progenitors. I find the idea of life being seeded throughout the galaxy fascinating.”

Roman smiled and nodded. “It is, quite.” He commented as he sipped his own tea. “And what were you hoping to do, out on a deep space mission like this?”
~ Cmdr Alden, XO/CSO
Chandel took a moment to consider the question and sipped her tea, finding the rich warm heat of it spreading out through her body and calming her.
“To study space phenomena and new planets for the most part, I believe. I believed I would have more chances out here to study new things then stuck in a research facility somewhere.”Ensign Chandel Sci
Roman smiled, “It is the same thing that draws myself out here, Ensign,” he said. “A research facility, or better, a science outpost on a planet, would be far better for my work, but I cannot resist the exploration of the new.”
~ Cmdr Alden, XO/CSO
Chandel nodded, in total agreement then took several sips of her tea, waiting for the XO’s next question if there were any.
Ensign Chandel Sci
“What are your concerns?” Alden asked. “Is there anything that worries you about being out on this sort of voyage?”
~ Cmdr Alden, XO/CSO
Chandel blinked for a moment, “No worries at all, sir. I was raised in space, so am quite used to being out here for great lengths of time. I am assuming that the Sentinel will have more areas of entertainment and distractions then my parents freighter had. I will also be quite busy with my work, I imagine. What is the Sentinel involved with at the moment?”
Ensign Chandel Sci
“The head of the Astrophysics lab will catch you up on all experiments,” Roman replied. “It is better that way than my trying to explain something outside my expertise. As for our mission…” And he explained what the ship was currently doing.
~ Cmdr Alden, XO/CSO
Chandel nodded. “Do you have any orders for me or should I just head down to the labs and settle in?”
