The subspace call had come in almost half an hour before, but Kreed was with a patient. And as everyone on board knew, when Kreed was with a patient, no one came before that. So it was that Admiral Hackett of Star Fleet Personnel sat, waiting, until the call was answered. As the minutes stretched on, the Admiral became increasingly impatient, visibly pacing back and forth in front of the screen on the Comms terminal on the bridge. And the more he paced, the more he grumbled and mumbled under his breath.

Kreed, CMO

The comms officer was getting nervous as the Admiral paced. Rende looked behind her at the young man. She got up and walked over. She tapped the man on the shoulder and took the ear piece. [O]Admiral Hackett. What can the Sentinel do for you?[C]

Cpt. Asam, CO

The Admiral stopped pacing and glared at the screen. [O] You can get your damn CMO on the comms; is what you can do, Captain. Now. I don’t have all damn day. [O]

Adm. Hackett, Star Fleet Personnel

Rende wasn’t bothered by the outburst. She wasn’t intimidated and she wasn’t going to put up with such childish behavior. [O]Admiral, Lt. Kreed is with a patient at the moment. A medical officer’s first oath is to the health and well being of the crew. He will be here when that is completed. In the mean time, do I need to have the Sentinel change course? Is his expertise in dire need elsewhere?[O]

[O] I don’t need his expertise, I need his damn face! Now get. Him. On. The. Comma. [O] Hackett replied through clenched teeth.

Rende patted the comm officer on the shoulder letting him know to page sickbay and let Lt Kreed know he had an irate Admiral on the comms. Asam was absolutely certain that Kreed wouldn’t care.

[O]Bridge to sickbay. Please inform Lt. Kreed that Admiral Hackett is on the comms for him.[C]

Cpt. Asam, CO

There was a momentary pause and then the CMO’s voice came through. [O] I know. [C] were the only two words that came through.

Kreed, CMO

Oh dear. Rende wasn’t one to dismiss an Admiral, but she also didn’t like the brass harassing her crew. That is what this felt like. She switched back to the Admiral. [O] My apologies, Admiral, but Lt. Kreed is unavailable. The situation needs his attention. Since you stated your request is not a medical emergency I will ensure he contacts you as soon as he finished.[O]
