“Always on hand to give you time to destress lass,” Marcus replied with a grin.

-Lieutenant Junior Grade Marcus Anders: Chief of Security-

Leah felt a small amount of heat on her cheeks, but her bronze skin fortunately hid it more easily. Leah could handle flirting and she was known to give as good as she got, but she was more cautious these days. Ever since Daro. Not that she expected any of that sort of nonsense here, but still, Leah wasn’t looking to jump into anything. On the other hand, she was lonely and having people to spend time with would be really nice. “I suppose it depends on what that destressing looks like, now doesn’t it?” she said with a smirk.

“I am partial to a swim? If that’s something your interested in? As a Doctor, I’d imagine you’d embrace physical exercise as a recreational activity.” Marcus’ mind was rushing, he could feel himself rambling…

-Lieutenant Junior Grade Marcus Anders: Chief of Security-

“Too bad we don’t have a pool, because I love to swim,” Leah said with an amused smile. “Guess we’ll have to make do with the gym. But yes, I like being active. I was a dancer for many years, actually.”

~Leah Hart, NP

“You should try the relaxation pools on Starbase 45, best bath I’ve had in years.” Marcus caught himself quickly, “Not that I rarely wash of course!” He changed tac fast, “I like to think I can cut a rug every now and again.”

-Lieutenant Junior Grade Marcus Anders: Chief of Security-

She gave him a cheeky grin. “You know Marcus, I’m thinking you’re the one who might need to destress a bit. Relax. I don’t bite… much.” She took a bite of her pizza, her brown eyes glimmering.

“What gave me away?” Marcus chuckled, taking a quick swig of his drink.

-Lieutenant Junior Grade Marcus Anders: Chief of Security-

She laughed openly. “I have a doctorate in nursing and I specialize in psychiatry. I know how to read people,” Leah said with a wink.

She lifted her glass and took a sip. “Tell me about yourself. Or do you do the whole ‘I’m Security and must be mysterious and intimidating shtick I’ve encountered so often?” That had not been her impression thus far, and to be fair, had he acted that way at all they would not be having this conversation.

~Leah Hart, NP

“The James Bond lifestyle was never my strong suit lass,” Marcus said with a chuckle, “What do you want to know?”

-Lieutenant Junior Grade Marcus Anders: Chief of Security-

Leah couldn’t help the sigh that escaped her lips. Leaning forward, her expression was imploring. “Marcus, I’m not on duty and this isn’t an eval. We’re supposed to be sharing and getting to know each other. Don’t make me work so hard for it, or this evening is going to be over rather quickly. I’m not trying to trick you. I just want you to tell me about you. Whatever you’d like to share, so that we can continue the conversation.”

~Leah Hart, NP

Marcus winked, “I’m just showing you how good I am in interrogations. I was always an explorer at heart; the Anders family goes back to the days of the NX-01, it’s said an ancestor of mine flew beta shift on Archer’s ship. Travis Mayweather taught Nicholas Anders, my grandfather everything he knew. That, my dear Leah, is one of my family’s many claims to fame.”

She studied him a moment, a look of curiosity on her face. “Did you feel compelled to join Starfleet because of that legacy, or do you think you still would have joined even if you hadn’t had that rich family history?” Lives were more complicated than that, but she was intrigued by how he might answer?

~Leah Hart, NP

“Like I said, I feel like I’ve always been an explorer, so I guess I was headed for the stars no matter what.”

-Lieutenant Junior Grade Marcus Anders: Chief of Security-

She ate another bite of pizza and chewed, thinking though her response. “Ahh, but the choice of what to do when you get there is endless. You could do anything, but you chose to join Starfleet and be in security. Those aren’t random choices,” she said with a wink.

~Leah Hart, NP

“If it led to the two of us meeting lass,” he said with a raise of his glass, “Then it’ll have been worth it.” A charmer’s smile crossed the young man’s lips.

-Lieutenant Junior Grade Marcus Anders: Chief of Security-

She chuckled. “Wow, that was line if I ever heard one. Do you use them a lot with people you have casual meals with?” Leah said with a mischievous gleam in her eyes.

~Leah Hart, NP

“Only in the right situation - and for the right person,” Marcus winked.
