After meeting the Sentinel’s new Nurse Practitioner, Leah Hart and feeling that he’d struck a chord with her, Lieutenant Junior Grade Marcus Anders was eager to spend as much time in Sickbay getting to know her as he could without it starting to look suspicious. So, the next morning during his usual patrol around the many corridors of the Sentinel’s main areas, the young Yorkshireman made sure that Sickbay became his first call.

Crossing the threshold into the Main Sickbay, Marcus couldn’t help but grin at the fact that it was clear that Leah was already a dedicated officer, as he found her hard at work and pouring over what looked like experimental medical data.

“Blimey lass, it’s safe to say I’ll know who to blame if the ship blows up in the next twelve hours.”

Leah turned her head away from the data on the screen, brows quirked. “Pretty sure you’ll be safe. I’m a mental health nurse, not a chemist,” she said with a smirk. “But I am working on long term research and there’s a lot of previous data I need to review before I can make sense of everything.”

‘What’s the field?’ Marcus asked, genuinely curious.

-Lieutenant Junior Grade Marcus Anders: Chief of Security-

“Well, the field is my own- mental health- but specifically looking at long term trauma and physiology. How a person’s own biology, and how even a makeup as a species can determine certain reactions or non reactions to trauma triggers.” Leah flashed him a smile. “It’s exciting to me, but maybe less so to others.”

“Have you been performing experiments like this long?” Marcus asked, tapping the console with his hand.

“Uh, it’s not all my research. Think of it more like a meta analysis.” Leah shrugged. “I have been looking into developing a more physiology-informed practice for several years now. My hope is to gather information for others in my field so we can compare and contrast our findings and hopefully develop a better approach to xenopsychology. The more the Federation expands, and the more species we meet, the more we need to factor in biology and culture into our approaches.”

She turned away from the screen to face him. “And What can Sickbay help you with today, Lieutenant?” Leah said with a relaxed smile.
