NE Whistle was walking towards the laboratories on Deck 12, albeit he was reporting in because that was his duty assignment. With the Sentinel still docked at a starbase, there wasn’t exactly much new information to catalog. However, he liked the routine, so at least he had somewhere to be - even if his time was being spent re-categorizing machines discovered on abandoned non-Federation colonies, specifically because the Sentinel had direct access to the Starfleet mainframe. True, it was interesting to learn just how close First Contact had come to being with the Klingons instead of the Vulcans - Whistle thanked God that Klingons were apparently impatient to settle somewhere that didn’t grant them a worthy conquest, and had left behind a settlement sometime during the European Renaissance that was frighteningly close to Earth - but those were certain details that didn’t change the fact that he was performing data entry. However, he was about to have his day become anything but routine. Just as he was about to turn to the appropriate corridor, a Vulcan - or at least he thought it was a Vulcan; the interaction was too brief to be perfectly sure - dressed in Services red briefly collided with him, then rushed off without so much as acknowledging Whistle. The satchel the Vulcan had also struck NE Whistle right in the hip. Whistle tried to turn around to remonstrate the Engineer - or at least Whistle assumed it was an Engineer, because Whistle couldn’t think of why a Security officer would be carrying a satchel - but the person had seemingly vanished. NE Whistle shrugged it off, thinking that, if that was the worst thing to happen to him that day, it was going to be a nice day.
The illusion of a nice day was shattered the moment that he actually came to the corridor. He saw a colleague, unconscious and slumped against a corridor wall. NE Whistle recognized it as NE Piccolo - and had no idea why anyone would have attacked her. Being the kind of man he was, NE Whistle found the nearest communications panel.
=/\= NE Whistle to Sickbay. There is an unconscious crew mate in the deck 12 corridor outside of the science laboratories. She is still breathing, but she’s got a cut on her forehead, as well as some bruising. Send medical personnel immediately. =/\=
With that, Whistle sat down next to the unconscious NE Piccolo and waited for help to arrive. He didn’t realize that his failure to also alert Security would have some regrettable consequences.

USS Sentinel=/\=Sickbay here. We’re on our way.=/\=
Leah called out in Sickbay as she moved to grab a medical kit. “Emergency call. Deck 12. Unconscious crewmember. Laceration to the forehead and some contusion.s”
She knew someone would be right with her and headed out the door heading for the lift. Three decks wasn’t far but depending on the injury, it could be too many. But Leah was calm, her ER experience kicking in instantly.

Kreed stepped out of his office at three call and pointed at another Medical Technivian. “Go with her. We’ll prepare for the intake.” he said.
Quinn was about to walk off the lift when the doors opened and Leah slid in from a sprint, “Do you want me to go with you or head on in and get ready for what exactly?” she asked looking up at Leah, with concern and curious eyes.

USS SentinelOOC: I can edit this out if someone else wants to help Leah.
OOC: We can assume Kindle is with her. It works for me.

“Come with,” Hart said to Kindle.Inside Sickbay, Kreed ran the preparations like a conductor of an orchestra. In a matter of moments, there was a biobed prepped and waiting, emergency cart next to it, and two nurses waiting along with him.

Moving to Deck 12, Leah stepped out with Quinn and moved at a light jog towards the labs. Soon she spotted the downed crew-member and someone sitting with them, presumably the one that put in the call.
She dropped to her knees beside the unconscious woman, reaching into her kit for her tricorder. “I’m Leah Hart. Can you tell us what you know about what happened”? she said to Whistle, passing the tricorder to Kindle to get readings while she gathered background.

“Ensign Whistle,” NE Whistle responded. “I know very little, to tell the truth. I was headed toward the Mechanical laboratory, and when I came into this corridor, Ensign Piccolo was slumped against the corridor wall. I haven’t touched her or tried to move her. I don’t even know why she would have been in the corridor; her duty rotation in the Stellar Cartography laboratory doesn’t end for another two hours.”
NE Whistle looked expectantly at Kindle, waiting for the Medical officer to scan his fellow crew member.

USS Sentinel((OOC: length and depth of the scalp injury, how many bruises how deep is the bruising, is Piccolo in danger of choking from neck injuries, are there any broken bones or just the visible injuries once I have that information and anything else you care to add I will edit my response accordingly many thanks in advance ;) Otherwise feel free to send me details over discord or something like that))

OOC: Sorry, haven’t quite gotten back into the rhythm of posting.
OOC: no problem at all, :)IC:
A visual would show that the laceration was already starting to bruise along the edges, but that the cut was clean instead of jagged. The tricorder scans showed that the injury was due to a hard edge instead of a sharp edge, and had actually damaged bone and brain tissue, as well as both dermal and sub-cranial blood vessels. With current technology, the injury could be easily treated in Sickbay. However, it was still fatal if untreated; were this only 300 years prior, the damage could have been lethal, given the limitations of medical technology in the 20th century. The tricorder also identified some material residue from the cut on the NE’s forehead, although they were generic enough that it would take a forensics investigator to determine a more specific origin.

USS SentinelQuinn kept her voice calm though inside she was furious at the state of NE before her, “Her injuries are severe and we need to get her to Sickbay sooner than later,” ((OOC: Do hover emergency beds exist or am I wrong Era for that?)). “Let’s get her to Sickbay and please remind me to send a copy of the scans to forensics.”

USS SentinelOOC: The GM can correct me if I’m wrong, but all references to hover-tech are 24th C. They do have site-to-site transportation if needed. But I might have an easier option care of my character’s higher home gravity. But I will edit if this doesn’t work.

“Her cervical is clear, I can carry her if you can take this for me,” Leah said, holding her bulky medical kit out to Kindle. She looked over her shoulder at Whistle. “Ensign, call for security, now,” she ordered. “And wait here for them to take your statement.”Though she was quite short, Leah also had a denser muscle mass that she worked hard to maintain for exactly these sorts of scenarios. So it was with little effort that she very carefully scooped up the fallen ensign and cradled her against her body. “Sickbay is only three decks up. Ready when you are.” It made sense for Kindle to clear the way and operate the lift. It would take little extra time and she could move quite fast and still not jostle her patients. This was not her first foray as Human Stretcher.

OOC: I don’t recall seeing hover tech on Discovery S1 or S2, and haven’t seen any in what little I’ve watched of Strange New Worlds (the Lower Decks crossover aside). Manually lifting the NE might be a little reckless compared to just waiting for a gurney, but turbolifts are a wonderfully useful tool.
IC:
NE Whistle nodded at the exchange, and then pressed the communications panel.
=/\= NE Whistle to Security. We have a crew member on Deck 12 who was attacked. Medical is taking the victim to Sickbay, but the Medical staff recommended someone come here first. =/\=
