“Kreed,” Hart said gently. “Stay for a moment, please.” It was not a suggestion, but nor was it an order.

“Tell me what’s happening for you right now? Thoughts, feelings, sensations in the body.” Her eyes were fixed on him, taking in all the details keenly.

Kreed stopped and turned back to look at Hart. He was thoughtful a moment and then said “I am thinking of what was happening during the incident. Remembering the small details like… like the smell of burning electronics. And the noise. The ship was groaning and metal was screeching all around. I am thinking of what I was thinking about then… prioritizing needs and trying to ascertain where best to go to ensure the most positive results for the risk.” He paused a moment and then said “As far as sensations in my body? Hmmm… well, I do feel hungry. And somewhat confused. It was easier to navigate before I saw the extent of the damage.” He looked at her expectantly, to see if she wanted further elaboration.

Kreed

“What is the confusion about?” she asked.

~Leah Hart, NP

He blinked at her. “Navigating how I went from one place to another. I just said that.” he replied and then began walking again.

Leah just nodded. Clarifying a patient’s comments was normal and it was preferable to getting something wrong and creating misunderstandings.

As they moved along corridors, Kreed looked at the ceiling and walls, pointing out where junctions were in the Jeffries Tubes and making changes in their direction. The ship was a mess, that was certain. But he eventually brought Hart to a turbolift and said “Here. I climbed up this shaft to get to the bridge.”

Kreed

Hart moved alongside, ever the attentive student and she took in all the details he was sharing. She was also noting the things that didn’t come up. “Did you want to up?” They had to get to the Bridge anyway, and while it might be odd for others, in her mind it was a perfectly reasonable idea. “Besides, they’ll be expecting us to come onto the bridge from the lift,” she said with a conspiratorial gleam in her eyes.

Kreed shook his head. “I do not believe that you be necessary. Besides, I was instructed to not over exert myself.” He tapped the call icon and the doors slid open. Stepping inside, he said “Bridge.” and the lift began to move, albeit slower than was usual for a ship’s turbolift.

Kreed

It was true and she wasn’t out to have him injured, but a part of Leah was still trying to gauge his responses to things and create a new baseline, for himself and other Saurians. As the lift moved upwards, she eyed Kreed. “If exertion wasn’t an issue, would you have gone up there?”

~Leah Hart, NP

Kreed thought for a moment and then said “No. It would not serve a purpose. I climbed the first time because there was no power. If there had been, I would have used the lift.”

Kreed

She tried not to chuckle, and in her suppression Leah smirked. “Okay. Do you know why Im asking?”

~Leah Hart, NP

Kreed thought for a long moment. “You are trying to ascertain if I am harboring any kind of fear or trauma concerning the incident. If I was hesitant to go or do something, or if I appeared hesitant, it would be indicative of an ongoing psychological issue. Perhaps repressed memories or emotions.”

Kreed

“In part,” Leah said with a nod. “I am duty-bound to ensure that there are no traumatic barriers to service, but more than that I’m trying to understand how you process events. How your emotions work for you. Because I can use all my knowledge and experience to assess you, but if I am evaluating you using an inaccurate metric, then that does us both a disservice.”
