“True. But the sentiment is appreciated.” Kreed said flatly. He led Hart through the passageways. It was obvious the ship had suffered greatly, even with over a month’s worth of repairs. Bent and warped bulkheads and exposed wiring were the norm, but so were engineers and technicians. As they walked through towards… where ever they were headed… some of those working stopped and looked at Kreed, and some even stopped him and said brief thanks and shook his hand. Kreed was gracious and polite, if a little aloof, but seemd to take it all in stride as they came to the ship’s Sickbay.

Leah watched everything with curiosity that was more than just clinical observation (though there was plenty of that). Beyond her simple evaluation was the piece of the puzzle, that was curious about Kreed and Saurians and saw this as an opportunity to expand everyone’s understanding of mental health. No, it never looked like one thing, so why had people been so adamant that Kreed’s should?

Kreed stepped inside and a Nurse looked up and her face broke into a massive smile. “Mr. Kreed!!! It’s so good to see you!” and she came around rhe desk and wrapped her arms around his neck and gave him a huge hug. Kreed stiffened at the contact, but put an arm around the woman in a polite embrace. “Nurse Carmichael. It is very good to see you.” Kreed replied. She looked at Hart. “This one saved my life. Flat out. One of the best doctors I have seen.Stick with him, I’m telling you. He’ll take you places.” she said.

“I don’t doubt it,” Hart said with a genuine smile. She wasn’t sure about Saurian socializing etiquette, so it was hard to know if they as a species disliked the contact, or if Kreed himself was adverse to the contact, or it was more interpersonally related.

At that moment a Vulcan female came from the back. She was tall, and her uniform was dirty. “Doctor Kreed. Seeing you conscious is a pleasant experience.” Kreed inclined his head to her and said “Thank you. If I may… Doctor D’trel, Nurse Practioner Hart. Commander D’trel is the Chief Medical Officer of the Taliskar. Lieutenant Hart is the one selected to evaluate my mental health before my return to duty.” D’trel inclined her head to Hart slightly and said “Welcome aboard. My apologies for the state of our section. As I am sure you are aware, we recently experienced some technical difficulties… everywhere.”

Kreed

“Not at all. After all, I’m hardly here to grade your decor,” Leah said with a smile. “How has the crew been doing as a whole?”

Lt. j.g. Leah Hart, Nurse Practitioner/Counseling

“Recuperating. It is a… process. But I have observed that as the ship is repaired, the crew seems to follow suit. It is quite fascinating, in that perspective.” She looked at Kreed. “And you? Is your recovery going as expected? Any complications?” Kreed shook his head. “None, Doctor. In fact, I would have come to see you sooner had the Academy staff allowed it. The fact I am here now is because Lieutenant Hart pushed for it.” He looked around. “I am glad to see that this is being repaired. It would be a true loss to the Fleet, had they decided the ship was a loss.” D’trel nodded. ” I could not agree with you more, Ensign.”

Kreed

Leah had nodded at D’trel’s assessment, knowing that it was often the case. Some people liked to think of themselves as being separate fromt heir environment but that was rarely trure, especially when it came to physical and mental health.

She turned to Kreed. “Where next on our tour. I’m curious to see as much of the ship as you feel up for.”

Lt., j.g. Leah Hart, Nurse Practitioner/Counseling

Kreed looked at D’trel and said “Have they repaired the Jeffries Tubes yet?” D’trel cocked an eyebrow at him and then looked at Hart, then back at Kreed. “I believe so. It was required to access the power couplings.” Kreed nodded and then held out a scaly hand to the CMO. “Thank you, Commander. I wish you good fortune going forward.” She shook his hand and then raised her hand in the traditional Vulcan farewell. “Live long and prosper, Doctor Kreed. I am appreciative of your presence here during the event.” Kreed nodded once and then turned and walked out of the room.

Turning right out of Sickbay, Kreed paused and looked at the wall and then the ceiling. “Here.” he said, and pointed up. “This is where I began making my way to Engineering.” He began walking, staring at walls and ceilings as they moved from deck to deck. Finally, after a very circuitous route, they walked into Engineering. A Lieutenant Commander walked up, covered in dark stains and sweat. “Help ya there, Ensign?” he asked, wiping his hamds on a rag. Kreed nodded and said “Yes. I would like to look around the Engineering section, if possible.” The Lieutenant Commander shook his head. “Nope. We’re still shoring up the catwalks around the Warp Core, so no one comes in who ain’t part of the repair team. Kreed nodded once and said “Of course, sir. My apologies.” and he turned to leave.

Kreed

Leah held out a hand to stop Kreed, but her gaze was on the engineer.

She flashed him one of her calm and charming smiles. “We certainly can understand the need for safety and we certainly don’t want to get in your way. She held out her hand to him. “Dr. Hart,” she said. It wasn’t a lie either! She really was a Doctor, just not a medical doctor, which (despite her disagreement with the whole damn thing), she understood why she wasn’t allowed to use the title while amongst those with medical degrees. It confused the patients.

“Ensign Kreed here and I are doing some very important work, so perhaps we can compromise? You tell us the areas where we need to keep our distance, and Kreed here will do his needed survey of the space?”

Lt., j.g. Leah Hart, Nurse Practitioner/Counseling

Kreed looked at Hart like she had grown a third eye on a stalk that rose out of her forehead. The look, however, disappeared quickly and he looked back at the Engineer. The Engineer looked at Hart and then Kreed. “What exactly are you looking for, Ensign?” Kreed blinked one set of eyelids, and then the other, and said “I am tracing the path I took when I was on the ship during the catastrophe. I am looking for… something.” The Engineer looked at him for a minute and then said “Yeah… okay. Just stay off the median catwalk and away from the railings. Kreed nodded and looked at Hart before turning and walking inside.

She had never been one to just accept things at face value when her instincts told her otherwise, so Leah was unfazed by the look Kreed had given her. In some way it made her certain she had taken the right action.

The place was a mess. Some work had been done, yes, but it was still obvious that a great deal of damage had been done in the space. Kreed walked through and found a crumpled bit of bulkhead with a bent and twisted hatch barely attached to it. “Here. This is where I came out. I had to get any kind of power restored because life support was failing.” He turned away and pointed to a section of catwalk that was relatively intact. “There. There were five Engineers there. Three were hurt, two severely. I had a kit with me and stabilized them. The two that were okay, I helped them get power back to life support. Then I went back in…” and he looked at the hatch and stood up and started walking.

Kreed

“Kreed,” Hart said gently. “Stay for a moment, please.” It was not a suggestion, but nor was it an order.

“Tell me what’s happening for you right now? Thoughts, feelings, sensations in the body.” Her eyes were fixed on him, taking in all the details keenly.

Kreed stopped and turned back to look at Hart. He was thoughtful a moment and then said “I am thinking of what was happening during the incident. Remembering the small details like… like the smell of burning electronics. And the noise. The ship was groaning and metal was screeching all around. I am thinking of what I was thinking about then… prioritizing needs and trying to ascertain where best to go to ensure the most positive results for the risk.” He paused a moment and then said “As far as sensations in my body? Hmmm… well, I do feel hungry. And somewhat confused. It was easier to navigate before I saw the extent of the damage.” He looked at her expectantly, to see if she wanted further elaboration.
