Kreed thought for a long time. “I think I would like to go to the Taliskar and see how the repairs are coming. Talk to the crew. They have been through a lot, and I think if I told them I appreciated all they did for me it might help them feel less… anxious… about everything.” He shook his head slightly. “I heard a few are refusing space-based assignments. That is a shame.”

“It would be,” she agreed. “How do you feel about going back to the ship after everything?” Leah asked.

He looked at her with a somewhat confused expression. “I don’t understand. Should I not go back?” and he blinked a few times and then asked “Or should I be trepidacious about doing so? I do not feel that way. Is that a problem?”

She shook her head slowly. “No, not necessarily. But for many people who experienced a traumatic event, there can be some uneasiness or anxiety about being there. For some, just being in the same places where a huge event happened can trigger some of the same emotions they felt at the time of the event. For many who do have this is can be intense, sometimes debilitating. That’s not to say we expect it, but we look out for it. And sometimes these things don’t surface right away, but later after they think they are doing fine.”

Leah leaned forward. “So what do you feel when you think about the Taliskar?”

Kreed thought for a long moment, setting aside the chopsticks. He looked out the window, and he tapped his fingers on the table slightly. “I feel… satisfied? Or perhaps… pleased?” and he looked back at Hart. “What we accomplished was truly impressive. Yes, we lost a few of the crew and that is absolutely tragic… but also part of what we do. And we could have… most likely should have… lost many more. Or even all of us and the ship. But we did not. And that is something I think is worth focusing on.”
