Rende flipped open her communicator and stepped to an empty extra office outside of Brayden’s =O=Asam to Rand. I need you to quietly gather the senior staff for a meeting in half an hour in the conference room.=C=Rand heard the triple chirp of her communicator and pulled it off her belt. =O=Aye, Captain. They’ll be there.=C=
After getting a response Rende closed the comms and looked at Alden. “We should get going.”
Asam, CO
Quietly? Well that was unusual, but then maybe that was how Asam liked to operate, or was it something else? Well she would have to operate as if it was classified. She made her way about the ship, speaking directly to each of the department heads (MCPO Johansson, Lt Kindle, Lt Anders). Rand wasn’t sure if Asam wanted their swing officers or not. She had only said senior staff. Well, she could always go get them.
She spoke directly to each of them, informing them that the captain requested their quiet discretion in attending a meeting in the conference room in half an hour.
Yeoman Rand
Lieutenant Junior Grade Marcus Anders arched an eyebrow at the Yeoman’s request, but gave a shrug, “Omnious or not, orders are orders. See you in half an hour lass.”
-Lieutenant Junior Grade Marcus Anders: Chief of Security-
Karl had been sitting in his office when Yeoman Rand arrived, the request was abnormal, and there was no way to avoid a meeting with the Senior staff being noticed. At least when the current shift compared notes with others during the next rotation. That was of no matter to him, he still hadn’t shaken of the odd feeling of being a member of the Senior staff, he’d been the senior-most engineer on whatever ship he was on for the past five or so years but being chief was a different animal indeed. Well getting there quiet was the word so quiet it was, he assigned himself to a repair duty on the same deck as the conference room and made his way there, putting his deputy in charge.

bump
Rende walked into the conference roomand took a seat. She picked up the cup that her Yeoman had set in the table and smiled noticing the same consideration had been given to the rest of the Senior staff. PaDDs and blank data disks had been set out at each place and light snacks on the side counter. She turned, “Thank you for setting everything up, Rand. You’re dismissed.”
She knew that surprised the young woman, but this matter required only Senior staff. Rende sipped from her drink and waited for everyone to arrive.
Asam, CO
Marcus slid into the room quickly, coffee in hand and a friendly nod for both Rand and Asam, “Captain, to what do we owe the pleasure.”
-Lieutenant Junior Grade Marcus Anders: Chief of Security-
The door slid open and in stepped the new CMO. The Saurian looked around for a moment and then wordlessly took a seat at the table next to the Security Chief. He inclined his head slightly and said softly “Lieutenant Kreed. I am the new Chief Medical Officer.” and he held out a scaly hand to Anders.
Kreed, CMO
The last one to arrive was Commander Alden, the ship’s CSO and first officer. He took a seat near the Captain and folded his hands nearly over the table.
~ Alden, XO/CSO
Marcus took the hand with a grin, “Lieutenant Anders, Chief of Security, Marcus to me friends.”
-Lieutenant Junior Grade Marcus Anders: Chief of Security-
Rende looked around at the gathered senior officers. When the door closed behind the Yeoman she pressed the command button on the console in front of her. “Computer initiate command security lockout of conference room. Authorization Asam alpha 2 9 5 zeta 2.”
=/\=SECURITY LOCKOUT ACTIVATED=/\=
“Comander Alden and I have just come from Admiral Brayden’s office. We have reason to believe that a Romulan spy has boarded the Sentinel.” She inserted the data disk she had gotten from Brayden and on each of their screens appeared the photo files.
The first was a photo of a young looking Romulan man. He was wiry and had black hair cut in very standard Romulan fashion. “A shuttle crashed on the moon. Station security only found it because one transport signature appeared minutes after the crash. The destination was here on the station. Surveillance footage showed a Vulcan, with a similar appearance to this spy.” She indicated the second photo that was placed side by side with the first. The two could’ve been twins, save for the Romulan brow ridges being absent in the Vulcan. “He was tracked to the loading dock for Sentinel. Command doesn’t know why he chose us ot what he is after.”
Asam, CO
“At the risk of sounding species-ist,-” rhe new CMO began, “- could we not simply gather all of the Vulcan crew together in one place and I can scan them for signs of recent surgical alterations? It would be a relatively straight forward way of at least narrowing down the possible candidates, if not finding the alleged spy.” and then something occurred to him.
“Or could it possibly be a Vulcan disguised as a Romulan returning to their original look?”
Kreed, CMO
Karl nodded at the question, although he wondered if there was some sort of legal issue with that, he wasn’t familiar with the intricacies of Sapient rights and their conflict with the uniform code of Justice.
Master Chief Karl - CE
“Surely we don’t want to raise too much suspicion all at once, I can always increase Security patrols around important sections of the ship, slowly at first mind.” Marcus found himself growing tense when the lockout was authorised and was suddenly thinking very tactically.
-Lieutenant Junior Grade Marcus Anders: Chief of Security-
Rende listened quietly, “If this person has the technology to remove or add Romulan brow ridges, they have the technology to add pointed ears and slanted eyebrows. It could be anyone. Dr Kreed you are doing physicals on everyone on the ship. Make sure they match their medical files. Anyone who avoids their appointment for any reason, I want to know immediately. They will be under suspicion. Lt Anders, start increasing security. Especially in public areas. Rotate your people, plain clothes. Public areas where the crew is relaxed is a good place to gather information. Everyone else be aware of anyone who acts out of character. Are any departments working on anything new, ground breaking, innovative, classified? Anything that may be worth trying to steal?”
Asam, CO
Kreed said “Captain, I just did physicals less than a week ago. Doing them again will look either suspicious or like my department made an error. And I will not allow that perspective to be an option.” He paused for a moment and then looked at the CE. “Could you mix a small amount of anesthizine into the life support? Not enough to render anyone unconscious; but enough the crew would feel… ‘off’. That would justify the need for a full crew medical check. We could even lay the blame on an error made by the Station dock crew so your department doesn’t appear foolish, either.”
Kreed, CMO
Karl turned to the Medical Chief with a look of complete disbelief, of course, disbelief on him were furrowed eyebrows and a delighted smile “Don’t worry about us looking like fools” He paused for a moment, his eyes searching up as he did the math in his head. His right-hand fingers moved as he seemed to draw equations on the table “There are safeguards to stop someone from doing just that although I’m certain I could bypass it, without checking I can’t be sure. Likely we’ll have to regulate it carefully so that the computer doesn’t attempt to jettison the drugs.” He looked at the Captain “It is doable, low to moderate risk to some internal ventilation systems being damaged but fixing that shouldn’t be a problem once we have our mole”
Master Chief Karl - CE
Roman nodded to Karl and Anders, “We need this kept between as few people as possible. Keep it to yourselves if you can. Otherwise we may tip off our target.” He frowned and sighed. Another intruder aboard the ship. The last time that had happened, he’d nearly been killed. Thankfully this time, it wasn’t a personal matter. “I don’t like this plan.” It seemed too easy to him for something to go wrong, playing with life support systems, drugging the crew. “But if it’s the only way… I suppose there isn’t much choice.”
~ Alden, XO/CSO
“I don’t like the idea of drugging the crew,” Rende agreed. “Too many things could go wrong. Admiral Brayden will give us anything we need. Could we say there is a virus going around on the station and everyone who visited the station or transfered from the station has to be scanned for it? Brayden will run the same precautions at the station if I ask him. We can always use the gas later if needs be.” She looked around, “Kreed what is the risk of exposing people to the gas?”
Asam, CO
“Hang on Captain,” Marcus cut in, “My Security team have been trained on what to do in the event of a chemical attack, we run the risk of them venting the gas before our spy can be exposed?”
-Lieutenant Junior Grade Marcus Anders: Chief of Security-
Kreed thought for a moment and then said “We can combine both approaches. If we say there is a viral contamination here and the station, and since we are currently docked, all personnel would be confined to quarters. Medical would then conduct a sweep and direct Engineering where decontamination efforts need to be concentrated, followed by flooding the ship with an antiviral gas in all sections. The gas is imperceptible to most species, although our Tellerite crew members would have a temporary headache. We can simply add anesthazine to that. There is minimal risk to the crew. Anestahzine is the standard anesthetic used in ninety-nine percent of all surgical cases; and we would only use enough to warrant calling everyone to sickbay, not rendering the entire ship unconscious.”
Kreed, CMO
“Anesthezine Gas is a crowd control sedative. The ship’s systems are designed to disperse it. It will not cause chemical attack alerts. There is a very good chance that our spy won’t report to sickbay and will try to avoid being scanned. Lt Anders, when the order comes for viral contamination procedures, I want officers on every deck, I want jefferies tubes locked down. Lt Kreed, I want you to make sure there is no one on board that will have an allergic or any other kind of negative reaction to the antiviral or Anesthezine gas before we do this. I want a security team with the medical teams going quarters to quarters. MC Johansson make sure our systems are ready to disperse as well as clean the air when necessary. I want the ship’s computer to track people on and off the ship through the transporters and docking hatch. Cmdr Alden I’ll want your people to help track and search for the virus. They can also help medical complete the scans of each area if Lt Kreed needs more people.” Rende paused and looked around the room. “Most importantly, I want each of you, not a subordinate, to go through every project, equipment, file, etc to see if there is anything that would be of interest to our spy. See if we can’t deduce what he’s after.”
Asam, CO
“Aye aye ma’am,” Marcus gave a nod to Kreed.
-Lieutenant Junior Grade Marcus Anders: Chief of Security-
“It’ll be done, Captain,” Roman replied, still unhappy with the plan.
~ Alden, XO/CSO
Karl nodded “Aye Captain” He said simply, the more official setting forced him to use a more official title.
Master Chief Karl - CE
“Alright, dismissed. I want updates as soon as you have them. I’ll be speaking to Admiral Brayden.” Rende stood and walked out the door. She headed down the corridor to find her Yeoman and then make a trip to speak to Brayden.
Asam, CO
Kreed stood and simply turned and walked out the door.
As the officers dispersed, Anders nodded to the XO, “Commander Alden, a word?”
