It had been almost three hours since the Executive Officer had left sickbay. In that time, Kreed had seen a dozen more crew for physicals, signed off on three medical transfers… and compiled a report of particular significance. He read it again, for probably the twentieth time, and then pressed the comms.

[O] Sickbay to Captain Asam. Please come to my office as soon as possible. Thank you. [C] and he sat back and waited, passing the time by re-reading the report he had compiled.

Kreed, CMO

Rende had been in the middle of composing a letter to El when the comms opened. It had been an early day for her, and she’d been trying t enjoy it. Kreed didn’t strike her as the type to request her presence unless necessary, so she stopped what she was doing. [o]On my way Lt.[c]

Five and a half short minutes later she entered sickbay and nodded to one of the nurses and moved toward the back to Kreed’s office and rapped her knuckles smartly on the door frame.

Asam, CO

The door was open and Kreed looked up. “Come in, Captain. Thank you for coming so quickly.” He tapped a button and the door slid closed. “First, an update. Ninety-nine percent of the crew has up to date physicals and their records are current. That is nine percent higher than Fleet average and four percent higher than required bu regulations. We have a full inventory done and the subsequent requisitions have been aent so we will be fully stocked before we leave the station.” He took a breath.

“And then there is this.” and he held up the file. He took the report and slid it across the desk. “For your eyes only, Captain. Medical confidentiality. But as the Commanding Officer, I believe you should be aware.”

The report detailed the CMO’s troubles with the XO, his difficulties getting him to comply with the mandatory physical, and the subsequent findings. It also detailed the need for regular psychotherapy and the fact that he needed a pace maker, but had not had the procedure done. It outlined the proposed treatment plan and the CMO’s hesitation to believe that the XO would comply willingly. Kreed anticipated much administrative and malicious compliance to regulations to keep the XO from following what Kreed wrote as ‘A last line of approach short of confinement to Star Fleet Medical Command hospital and involuntary treatment’.
