“Doubt we’d have to go that far, even” En Delgado pipped up. Cutting out a section would take too long. He ran his hand over a seam between two rock, “Let’s get a 3-D scan of the exterior and have the computer run stress simulations. That’ll tell us the weak points. It’ll be like taking a hammer and chisel to the stress points and this sucker will pop right open. Like opening a geode.”

With help Luis’s request was soon underway of a structural scan of the rock. Soon enough they did indeed find some imperfections in its make up. Near the aft port top corner of it they found this would be one of the easiest points to phaser drill into the surface to get to the ‘meaty’ interior of the artificial construction.

Once the weak points were identified, En Delgado lead the efforts in organizing the ship cracking. He prepared a phaser drill capable of drilling through the rock but not so unwieldy that it was too large to fit between the rock and the walls of the room. The drill was set to act as both their hammer and their chisel in cracking open this mineral pinata. “Any one else got to play with pinata’s as a child?” The En said conversationally as he activated the drill.

“Pinatas? Are those the paper mache shapes people often fill with candy?” Jorik asked, stepping away from the drill so he didn’t accidentally get him by debris.

Like a slowly peeled hard boiled egg the heavier bits of space rock were soon phasered away and revealed the outer shell of the concealed ship. A quick scan of the meatal showed it was mostly made of low grade titanium a cheap easy to obtain metal pretty much anyone could get their hands on anywhere in known space used often for either low priority constructions or disposable purposes or needs.

With a bit more work the crew were soon able to cut their way through the single layer 5 inch thick hull and access the inside. Scans kept steady with their being no life signs but the inside did have a breathable atmosphere if in low power like mode. Peeking in briefly they could see the cramped square area they had undconvered was dimly lit, likely the whole space could hold one maybe two of them without too much trouble.
