Looking the big rock ship over Ensign Delgado’s comment about any crew being beamed inside it seemed more and more likely. All scans and physical visual evidence showed NO doors, hatches, or such that someone could fit inside. The only exterior ports were those for the thruster system. Scans confirmed there was a small interior space about 20x20ft or so and about 10ft or so in height. No signs of life were picked up however. They would either need to cut the ship open by phaser drills or beam inside themselves from a transporter room.

“I’d love to get at the internals of this thing. No entry, no crew but the ability to fly by itself? That’s awesome!” Jorik said, coming down the stairs to the main room of the shuttlebay.

NE Birks nearby spoke up finishing scans, “..Seems like no external access points. There is an internal area likely for a crew, but no signs of any present. Only way to get inside is by a beam in..” Birks said.

Elbbirt, old and practical piped up, “Or take a welding torch and cut a section out. The pieces of the hull had to be pieced together to begin with. Find the join and crack it open.”

Elbbirt

“Doubt we’d have to go that far, even” En Delgado pipped up. Cutting out a section would take too long. He ran his hand over a seam between two rock, “Let’s get a 3-D scan of the exterior and have the computer run stress simulations. That’ll tell us the weak points. It’ll be like taking a hammer and chisel to the stress points and this sucker will pop right open. Like opening a geode.”

With help Luis’s request was soon underway of a structural scan of the rock. Soon enough they did indeed find some imperfections in its make up. Near the aft port top corner of it they found this would be one of the easiest points to phaser drill into the surface to get to the ‘meaty’ interior of the artificial construction.

=O=Excellent Ensign. Once engineering has gotten in and security cleared it, I want the ship’s navigation log. I want to know where it was and where it was going. Asam Out.=C=

Once the weak points were identified, En Delgado lead the efforts in organizing the ship cracking. He prepared a phaser drill capable of drilling through the rock but not so unwieldy that it was too large to fit between the rock and the walls of the room. The drill was set to act as both their hammer and their chisel in cracking open this mineral pinata. “Any one else got to play with pinata’s as a child?” The En said conversationally as he activated the drill.
