Shirley sat at the desk in her quarters wearing her green Captain’s uniform top, along with her standard Starfleet uniform pants and boots. She definitely fancied the new uniforms and was glad the Sentinel was one of the first ships to test them out. The older uniforms were far too bland and similar, and she enjoyed the fresh new colors on display on the Sentinel. She reached down and pressed the Comm button, “Yeoman Rand to the Captain’s quarters.” She released the button and folded her arms under her chest while waiting for her Yeoman to respond.

Rand was in her quarters, not quite able to bring herself to return to her office yet. She pressed the comm button, =o=On my way Cpt.=o= She grabbed her PaDD, key rods in her pocket and comm clipped to her belt. She scooped Pipkin up, “Back in your room,” and put her in the cage and closed the door. She checked her uniform and took a lint roller to it, just to straighten up a bit and then walked out the door and down the corridor and pressed the chime on the captain’s door.

When the door opened she stepped inside, “Reporting as ordered, Captain.”

Shirley smiled warmly and then gestured with her hand towards a chair, “Hi Rand, thanks for coming by, please take a seat.” She looked over Rand for a moment and spoke genuinely, “Rand, how have you been? Anything new going on in your world?”

“Of course, Captain. What do you need me to do?” The polished and outwardly poised yeoman entered and took a seat. She was always ready to help, not so much to discuss her personal self. She preferred to stay in the back ground. She did appreciate Rogers asking. After all it was no secret about the assassination attempt on Cmdr Alden or herself. Or the fact she had been off duty for several weeks now because of the severity of her concussion she’d sustained from the bomb blast. “I’m doing much better Captain, thank you. Medical has cleared me for full duty now.”

Shirley then reviewed her PADD for a moment while waiting for Rand to take her seat. She looked across the desk to meet Rand’s gaze, “I would like for you to set up an event for a promotion ceremony and send out invites to the crew. There are several members of the crew that are quite overdue for a recognition of their excellence.” Shirley tilted her head slightly, “You can delegate tasks to your subordinates if you require a team to help out as well if necessary.”

Rand’s face stayed passive with a gentle smile, inside she thought it was sweet that Rogers thought Rand actually had ‘subordinates’ to work with. No, all the things that feel under yeoman duty, that was all her. There was no one else. A crew this size didn’t rate more than one yeoman. But recognition for hard work was always welcome, Rand enjoyed seeing the crew celebrated. She picked up her PaDD and began to take notes. “Of course, I can handle that. When would you like the ceremony to be held? We will have to clear the gym and use that space for it. It’s the only location big enough. That takes about a day to clear out and set up. Who is on the list? I will need that information so I can have the quarter master prep uniforms with the new insignia to be presented at the ceremony.”

Shirley looked to Rand to meet her gaze, As far as the ceremony goes, I agree lets have it in the gym. That should work out well. I am really looking forward to recognizing the crew, promotion ceremonies are always lovely to take part in.” She then attached the list of crew members getting promoted and sent it over to Rand’s PADD, “There you should have it now. Did you have any questions for me?”
