Roman just liked making plans and doing something nice every once in a while. And he saw the value in having a formal “date” time. So he did, occasionally, make plans just because, like a date. “Observation deck, 1700 hours. The ship will be passing a prime star, burns blue. We’ll have dinner there, it’ll be nice.” He told her. “And maybe before then… A little dance, in our quarters, if you like?”

The observation deck would probably be packed with people wanting to see the prime star, but that was okay. The windows were large enough to give everyone a clear view. Rand didn’t have to say anything, the smile and the way her eyes lit up made it obvious she loved that idea. She loved dancing with Roman and if she had her way they would every day, but it was all the more meaningful because they couldn’t. “I would love that.” Rand might have eaten a little faster than normal. There was no reason to rush, dinner was hours away, but she was excited.

Roman could tell she liked the idea and that made him happy. He finished his food slightly after her. He wasn’t going to tell her just yet that the deck would be empty… He would let that be part of the surprise. He’d always hated dancing, before knowing her. Now, as long as he was dancing with her, he loved it, and he was excited.

Rand collected her tray to return it. “Should we check on Mushu and Nibbles since we are down here?” Nibbles was technically volunteer work. Rand wasn’t supposed to be attached. Nibbles was supposed to be attached to Rand, not the other way around. Rand took her responsibility to the tiny Atravian mouse very seriously. Only Rand, would want to visit lab animals on her day off.
