At the end of her shift, Rand left her office after making sure everything was set for the next day. She had the next day off and she always tried to make things as easy as possible to make sure she didn’t have a lot of ‘fires’ to put out after. So it took her longer than normal to finish her shift. But the extra time working in her own had helped dismiss all the unease she’d built up over the day. She walked in and grinned at him, placing her key rods in the locked drawer, flopped back on the bed, draped one arm over her eyes, and sighed. “I refuse to look at a computer screen tomorrow. Unless it’s a movie.”
Rand
Roman grinned, leaned over, and gave her a kiss. None of his plans had anything to do with computer screens. “I think that can be arranged. Are you ready to get dinner?” He was nervous for the next day, but if she thought he was nervous, she’d wonder why, and it might ruin his surprise. So he’d just pretend today was any other day. Make tomorrow like a ‘date day’ and end it with the proposal. It sounded good to him.

Rand smiled when he kissed her. Randy was right, everything was fine and she was being anxiously rediculous. “Yes, you make all the arrangements, I am putting out my ‘out to space walk’ sign and refusing to answer any requests.” She sat up, and then stood. “Yes, dinner sounds like a great idea.” She stopped mid-step and rocked back. “Oh Pipkin, I almost stepped on you.” She scooped the bunny up, nuzzling her slightly before putting her in her cage. Pipkin looked slightly confused and it made Rand laugh.
Rand
Roman smiled as she picked up and put away the bunny. “She loves being under everyone’s feet. She’ll regret that one day.” He put his arm around Rand as they went down to the galley. “How does a nice, quiet evening sound?”

Roman put his arm around her, and butterflies took off in Rand’s stomach. She felt pleasantly warm and happy, despite her anxiety. It wasn’t that people didn’t know, or it was a secret, she was just usually private about her life, and she wasn’t always sure what she was supposed to say or do, especially with others around. Roman helped make that easier.
She smiled a little at his question. Their evenings were always quiet, just the two of them. “I like the sound of that.”
Rand
As they reached the galley and went to get their food, Roman kept his arm around her. His mind was fully on tomorrow, but he was trying to enjoy the present. That was what tomorrow was all about after all, spending as many evenings as he could with her, like this.
The next morning when Roman woke early, he lay quietly, letting Rand sleep as late as she wanted. Once she woke, then they could go and get breakfast. He’d also tell her about their dinner plans. Just that he had a dinner planned, not why.

Rand slept in, and that means it was 0900 when she woke up. She stretched a bit and then rolled over pulling the blanket over her head and going back to sleep. It was another half an hour or before she fully woke up, remembering she and Roman were both off that day. Also, her one arm that decided to sneak out from under the blanket said she was too cold to leave the warm blanket. Goosebumps raced across her skin right before she pulled her arm back under the blanket where it was warm. She blinked sleepily, curled on her side next to Roman, head on his shoulder and yawned delicately. “Good morning.”
Rand
Roman slipped an arm around her and hugged her. “Morning.” Then he smiled at her. “Ready for breakfast or still waking up?” She still looked sleepy and it was cute to him the way she curled up next to him. He smiled. As nervous as he was about what he planned to do, he was sure he wanted to do it. Spending every morning for the rest of his life like this sounded perfect.
