Presim: You Ain't Never Had A Chief Like Me
The transporter swirled to life moments after the communication had been received that the new Chief Engineer was arriving. As the lights coalesced and the hum of the pad quieted, the transporter officer did a double take and for a moment thought something had gone very, very wrong. “It’s fine, Ensign. I’m supposed to look like this.” said the Andorian on the transporter pad.
At a few inches over six feet and well-muscled, the figure would have been the poster figure for an Andorian… except that they were startlingly white, not blue. From the tips of their antennae to the hands showing out of the red Star Fleet uniform with Lieutenant Junior Grade rank, the individual was so white as to be almost translucent. And they were wearing glasses! Glasses with deep blue lenses in black wire frames. “Lieutenant Junior Grade Riss Ch’ethyniq. New Chief Engineer. I would like to drop off my bags and go see the Captain, if everything is in order?” he asked as he approached the transporter control console. The Ensign stammered “Uh uh… yeah, I mean yessir! Sorry sir!” Riss could feel the waves of embarrassment coming off of the younger officer and he smiled, the grin parting his very slightly blue lips. “Relax, Ensign. You did a fine. I take no offense. I know I can be startling to those who are used to seeing my kind. Even other Andorians do a double take.” and he winked and picked up his bag and walked to the door and out.
