Roman almost wished she didn’t have to let go. But he perked up at Shepard’s pie. He stood and together they went down to eat. During the meal, Roman brought up wanting her to know self defense, at least some, and suggested they go to the gym the next evening, his usual workout day anyway. Since things had calmed down, he had been back to practicing jiu jitsu and his usual workout routines.Posted by Ensign Rand Farquharson (Yeoman First Class) in side - sim: To Propose or Not to Propose?

Roman nodded and stood. “I know where to put them. No matter how many times I tell her it’s her space too she still acts like an intruder in my space. Where I put them, she won’t go looking,” he said. “Don’t go drinking too much,” he said as he left, heading into his own quarters. It didn’t take long to put the rings away. He pulled his violin case out, unzipping the upper pocket, made to store sheet music or other accessories. He made space and stored the rings inside. The only other things in the pocket were the things for the violin that one would typically find in a case, and his photo of himself and Jay. He spent a short moment looking at that photo before he slipped it back into the pocket, zipped it up, and put the violin back in the bottom of the closet. Then he grabbed his PaDD and sat on the bed, waiting for Rand.

Roman wasn’t even really settled to read when Rand walked in the door. When her gaze landed on him she broke out in a smile. Just being near him made her happy, made her want to smile for no other reason than he was there. “You got done early, today.” Roman was usually still in the lab, not because he was behind on his work or that busy, he just liked it. It was rare that he left the lab before her shift was over.
She set her PaDD on the desk and then set her personal comm on the table next to the bed, and locked her key rods in the drawer. Then she grabbed clothes and went into the bathroom, coming back a few minutes later, looking more relaxed in civilian clothing, and put her uniform away.
Rand
Roman looked up and smiled when he heard the door opened. He nodded to her statement, “It was a slow day today. There wasn’t really anything for me to stay and do.” Normally he’d find something to do but sometimes on a rare occasion he didn’t feel like it. He’d just play it off like today was one of those days. He moved over on the bed after she came out of the bathroom to give her space, setting his PaDD on the side table. “You’re done a little early as well, aren’t you?” He’d only just settled in to read, he’d expected to have a little time before she got back.

Rand sat down next to him. “I am. Nothing particularly time consuming today.” She leaned over and kissed his cheek before hugging him and then laying against his shoulder. “Have you eaten yet?” She should have grabbed a tray when she passed the galley but when Roman wasn’t in the lab she’d just come straight back here. She was perfectly content to not get up and deal with dinner, but skipping a meal started a very bad habit for them both.
Rand
Roman gave her a little kiss back and then slipped his arm around her. “No, I thought we’d go to the galley together. Assuming you didn’t bring a tray with you, of course.” In all honestly, he’d forgotten dinner with the excitement about the rings. But going with her seemed a good way to get that out of the way, and then he could bring up the self defense thing.

Rand tightened her arms around him briefly before getting up. “Good. I heard Chef made Shepard’s pie tonight. I want to get one before they’re gone.” Well two because it was both her and Roman’s favorite dish, and Chef’s was superb.
Rand
The next day after shift, Roman picked up a quick dinner and after eating headed to the gym. While he waited for Rand, he warmed up and practiced on his own.
