Roman waited for him, standing just outside the door. When Randy handed him the hypo, he held it like it might bite him or something. At Randy’s comment he grinned. Darn, he really had been looking forward to that. “Too bad. Thanks,” he said, and then he headed back to his own quarters with Rand, still holding the hypo like it was going to hurt him or something. “Randy isn’t coming so he can’t say anything to get himself hit, but he gave me this to give you,” He said.

“Knew he had smarts somewhere.” She mumbled and flopped the pillow out of the way. She cracked her eyes open, and her features softened when she looked at him. “I can do it if you don’t want to.” Rand didn’t like taking meds when they weren’t necessary, but as a rule she wasn’t against them. She just didn’t like sedatives and having to stay overnight in sickbay.

Rand

Roman sat down on the bed by her and shook his head. “I can do it for you.” He wasn’t the one taking it, it shouldn’t be a problem. But it did bother him a bit. He’d rather make himself get over it than make Rand do it herself. He gently pressed the hypo to her neck, like Randy had said, until there was that standard soft hiss as it dispensed the medicine. “There, see?” That wasn’t so hard, he added the last part to himself, for himself.

Rand sighed as the medicine dispensed and moved her head before he moved away, the intent to kiss his hand, but got his forearm instead. Why? Simply because. “Thank you.” It didn’t take long for the medicine to start working. It was obvious when the corners of her eyes relaxed and the frown line between them disappeared. Then it got her neck and back, and even though she didn’t move at all she seemed less stiff.

Rand

Roman smiled as her lips made contact with his forearm. He set the used hypo down on the side table and continued to rub her shoulders and her back for a while longer, until she looked more relaxed and not so stiff. Then he lay down beside her, his arm around her.

Rand fell asleep some time before Roman laid down. She was blissfully unaware of what Roman was thinking or that Randy had started it. Or that Roman was experiencing his own version of anxiety. She half woke up once her head feeling like a strained muscle that was sore but not painful. Her eyes refused to open so she fell back asleep quickly with Roman’s arm around her. When her alarm went off, she felt much better, but she laid there for awhile, fighting to wake up all the way.

Rand

Roman spent most of the night thinking about what Randy said. It helped in a way, having his arm wrapped around Rand, cuddled in close to her. Why not sooner than later? What exactly was he waiting for? And if it would give Rand certainty… Yes, it would freak her out, but it seemed like it would be better for her once it was said and done. Finally he fell asleep, and he was asleep when her alarm went off, the noise failing to wake him.

Rand finally pulled herself from the clutches of sleep. Roman was still asleep and there was no way she was going to wake him up. A good run down on deck 6 usually helped her wake up, but she wasn’t sure her head would appreciate it. She opted for a rather indulgent shower. She opted for a loose braid rather than the tight bun she usually wore. As silently as possible she collected her things and the hypo, and slipped out the door. She returned the hypo to Randy just as quietly and made her way down to the Galley for toast, eggs and really strong black tea. She had several people she wanted to talk to that day.
