Rand laid curled on her side, head on his shoulder, one arm over him holding Roman’s opposite hand, and drifted while, slowly, their world returned to normal, though that was different now. The thought didn’t make her anxious but rather made her smile. But nothing would stop her from worrying over him, “Hmmm....you probably need water.”Rand
Roman lay on his back, one arm around her, the other holding her hand. He still had no idea what time it was. He didn’t really care. He just hoped it would be a while before Elbbirt showed up again. He was still smiling, his eyes closed, just enjoying the moment with her until she spoke up and he looked down at her. His response only took a short moment to think of, “I’ll drink all the water you want if you wear the nightgown.”

Rand wasn’t looking at him, her eyes were closed and she was smiling softly. She flushed and turned her head into the hollow of his shoulder. She was worried about him and he was teasing her! She groaned, why did Randy have to do that? And then that made her feel bad because of early and how she’d treated Randy. She pushed it away though, she didn’t want to ruin the moment. She was too happy and peaceful. The idea of wearing that nightgown for him made her stomach feel funny and her heart race. She’d said maybe…she just wasn’t sure if it was still maybe. “Nuh-uh. You gotta eat…everything and drink all the water I want.” She was blushing but grinning. He’d never do it.
Rand
Roman had a pounding headache now anyway and he was thinking the water might help. But to eat everything? “The whole tray?” He complained, though he was still smiling. “Have you seen your trays? You don’t eat them either!” He was still teasing her though he did wish she’d eat more. He was just making a show of saying yes. “And if I do? You’ll wear it? Tonight?” He had to be sure he had the terms of the deal down. His voice was soft and playful and he was hugging her close, his hand that was around her resting on her side, the thumb gently moving back and forth.

Rand knew she needed to eat more, Elbbirt had made him worry that she could have been the one who had fallen. So she would have to make the effort. However, Roman sounded to confident about it. She grinned, a little laugh in her voice. “Yep all of it. Lunch and dinner since it’s tonight. I can’t have you skipping dinner. Oh, and enough water you aren’t dehydrated anymore.” A pleasant shiver went across her skin where his thumb was moving. Hmmm she didn’t want him upsetting his stomach eating too much too quickly....it was fine he wouldn’t eat it all. She had no idea what Randy brought, but like breakfast it was probably too much (how convenient she forgot Randy had taken that into account at breakfast).
Rand
Roman’s grin was equal parts confident and playful. “Enough water I’m not dehydrated? That’s a lot of water.” He’d already been drinking enough that requirement wouldn’t be too hard, especially with trying to help his headache. “Let’s start with lunch, then, shall we? Why don’t you go get it? My head really hurts.” His head hurting was the truth, it was pounding like the pulses of a beating drum, but he was more interested in her seeing exactly what Randy brought them.

Rand finally peeked up and him and nodded, “It is a lot of water.” Rand had a moment of relief when he told her to get the tray. At least this didn’t turn into an argument like that last time she’d tried to tease him into eating. Then he said his head hurt, and she let go of his hand, feeling around under the blanket for her robe. It was a comically cute little maneuver, trying to shimmy into the robe before she got up. She was only partially successful. “We forgot about icing your head.” She really felt bad about that. She should have been thinking about his health. She sat up and finally managed to get the robe untwisted from the belt and tie the belt closed. She found the ice pack and bent to pick it up and then brought it over to him, and set it against the back of his head.
Roman tried to help her find her robe but he was only adding to the comical nature of the situation. While she was up, Roman redressed himself without getting out of bed, neglecting to put his shirt back on. Then he rested his head back onto the ice pack as she set it against his head. “I’m sure Elbbirt will be very cross with us,” he said it in a playful tone, and then added more seriously, “We can make up for it later. I’m sure it’ll be fine.”
Then and only then did she finally turn toward the table, from profile her expression looked very confused. She walked over and stood there staring at the tray, hands on her waist, biting her lower lip. Well no wonder Roman thought it was funny. Grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup. Even if he’d eaten a 7 course meal before hand, Roman could make himself eat that. Her face turned really red and then turned michevious. She picked the tray up and brought it over to him. Then she walked back to the counter and opened the cooler she paused a moment and then stood, closed it with her hip and turned back around with six bottles of water in her arms and she placed all six on the tray for him.
Rand
Roman was grinning as he watched her take in what was on the table. Then she brought him the tray and he took a big bite of the grilled cheese as she walked away again. When came back, his smug, playful smile faded slightly. “Six?” His voice did that high pitched thing it did when he said it. “Are you trying to overhydrate me to death? You know that’s a thing, don’t you?”
~ Roman
Rand watched him take that big bite of the sandwich and resisted the urge to glare at the closet where the nightgown hung. She did appreciate the look on his face at the water though. “I do know, but I also know it will take more than 6 bottles of water to overhydrate a fully hydrated person. My track coach made us learn that.” She walked back over to the table and grabbed her own lunch, and grinned over her shoulder at him, “but you don’t have to drink it.” Then she sat down on her side of the bed and dunked her sandwich into the soup. Nope, he did not have to drink the water. She was totally fine with him not holding up his side of the deal.
Rand
All this time, and Rand still underestimated Roman’s stubborn streak. He finished off the sandwich and the soup, drinking the first water with his meal. Then he popped the top off another water and started guzzling that one too. He was reaching for the third when he looked over at her again and smiled playfully.
