After a moment Roman had no concept of time, or anything else for that matter. It was just the two of them and nothing else in the world, his arms tightly enough around her that she was pressed up against him as they kissed. And that was the only thing he was aware of. He felt light and happy. It did little in reality, to fix his headache or his confusion, but at least while the kiss lasted, he wasn’t really aware of them anyway.

She was warm and relaxed with his arms around her, pressed close. Rand was positively tranquil, anxious about nothing, her grief not even a distant thought, totally engulfed. Time stopped or speed up or something, whatever it did, Rand wasn’t aware. There was only Roman and her, and Rand would be quite happy for it to stay that way. Her fingers brushed through the hair at the base of his neck, careful of the bump, and if possible, she pressed closer.
Then out of nowhere a very crisp Brummie English accent cut across the room as Elbbirt exclaimed, “Good God man, let her breath once in a while!” Now Elbbirt wasn’t one to comment on people’s love lives or activities, but he just couldn’t help it.
The sudden English tones of Elbbirt’s voice made Roman jump, his grip tightening slightly on Rand as their kiss broke off. He moved his arms into more of a hug and turned to look.
Rand’s hands moved and she stopped kissing him, hiding in his arms against his chest. She just wanted Roman to make him go away, and get the lock looked at.
Ellbirt’s exclamation was quickly followed by Randy’s Scottish brogue, “Feelin’ better are ya?”
Rand’s voice was muffled and only Roman could hear her, “I was…”

Roman smiled at her comment, and then to Randy and Elbbirt said, “Haven’t the two of you the decency to knock? You’re lucky all we’ve done is kiss.” When the kiss ended, so did his obliviousness to his own headache and that made him grouchy. “It can’t already be lunch time.”

Rand suddenly realized, judging by the wonderful warmth of his hand on her bare skin, and the fact her hands were against his chest under his shirt, they really were lucky Ellbirt and Randy hadn’t arrived just a bit later. Rand pressed closer, for self preservation and whispered, “Please…make them go away.”
Randy poked Ellbirt with an elbow, “I told you to knock louder.” Ellbirt shrugged, “Eh, didn’t want to wake them if they were sleeping. And yes it’s lunch time. Your body needs energy,” Ellbirt couldn’t help the grow wiggle at that, “and for that it needs food.”
Randy set the lunch tray down, looking at the breakfast tray, Rand’s more untouched than he expected. Uncomfortably, he cast a questioning gaze at Alden. Was Rand okay? That morning still bothering him. He could just make out the bright red tip of Rand’s ear where she was hiding against Alden and under the blanket.
“Well come on now, quick exams for you both,” Elbbirt clapped his hands together like the whole situation was nothing.
Rand shook her head, Roman had to get rid of them. She couldn’t get up with her robe undone and he had better not get up either. He and the blanket were essential for her privacy at the moment.
