Roman was acting intentionally oblivious to her embarrassment as he held up the nightgown by the shoulders as if contemplating. “He’s right, you would look gorgeous in this. Though he wrong on the other part. Green definitely suits you better than purple.” He was still wearing that look as he stared at the nightgown thinking about it.~ Roman
Rand didn’t think she could breathe. What was he doing? Turning it this way and that - inspecting it? She swallowed, not even aware of what she was saying, just talking. “You haven’t seen the purple.” And she waved toward the closet. “It’s in the bag.” If Roman was hoping for an invitation he got one. It was more lilac than purple and really would be a wonderful color against her eyes and contrasting to her hair.
Rand
After all the secrecy, Roman was a bit surprised. He headed to the closet, hung up the green with a spare hanger from his closet, and then pulled the purple out of the bag and held it up, comparing to the green. “Well, it is nicer than I thought it would be, but I still prefer the green.” Probably because it reminded him of Valentine’s day, though the nightgown was far… More revealing, than her dress had been.

Why was he looking at them? … That was a dumb question. Why wouldn’t he look…but…oh lords and ladies she told him to…Rand couldn’t breathe. She’d told him to look at it. What was she thinking? She didn’t flirt like that, she didn’t flirt at all! What was Roman thinking? Well the look on his face told her enough. She wasn’t blushing anymore and she wasn’t looking at him either. She was trying to breathe, was it working? Pipkin banged her back feet next to Rand’s chair. “I…I…di…don’t think…he’d give…to you.” She was stammering and really quiet. Why was this so difficult for her? She hated it.
Rand
Roman hung up the purple gown as if it were any other piece of clothing and then went to sit by her. There were several answers he could give, depending on how much more he wanted to tease her. Finally he decided on, “He must have wanted me to see you in them.” He knew that wasn’t the real reason, but he was giving Rand the look again, paying attention to be sure he wasn’t going too far.
~ Roman
She glanced over at him quickly. “See…see me in them?” Well at least the color was back in her cheeks. Then she laughed, just a little. “Randy must approve of you then. Too bad Randall Oyne Tavish William Ian Farquharson is a dead man.”
Rand
Roman smiled and rubbed his hands together. “This, I can’t wait to see.” Rand killing Randy over the nightgowns sounded hilarious. Though, he thought, he would also love to actually see her wear the night gowns. But that he would bring up later. He’d never heard Randy’s full name, though he supposed it made sense they both had the same crazy number of names.
~ Roman
The long names were actually a joke. Randy had started it when they were 12. Adding names to express his exasperation. The ones he had picked for Rand were actually parts that she lived. People she wished she could be like. Except Scarlett. She hated that one. Randy had added that one when he said she was being exceptionally aweful and kept it to remind her. So she had returned the favor.
She watched him rub his hands together and grinned a little more, relaxing a bit, “You look like a Bond Villain doing that. But I Randy deserves it.” She laughed. She grabbed a piece of lettuce out of her bowl and placed it in front of Pipkin. The kettle had been ready for a moment. Rand missed the whistle of old fashioned kettles. She squeezed his hand still flushed, “What kind of tea do you want?” Yes she was attempting to change the subject.
Rand
“A Bond villain?” His voice went high pitched on the word Bond. “Can’t I be a cooler villain?” He asked. “The usual bedtime tea, lavender please,” Roman replied. He expected to have trouble sleeping again, so that was the best one to go with. But Roman was not so easily distractable. “You’ll have to wear them, eventually.”
~ Roman
Rand was still clasping her hands together, but she snickered. “Not when you rub your hands together like that. All you need is a cat and you’d be Ernst Blofeld. Pipkin is far too cute to be a super villain’s pet.” She moved over to the counter, placing two cups out, and pulled out the cream and honey. She went about steeping the tea. It was a familiar and welcome normalcy, but it felt different. More significant. She was more than content the way things were, she was happy. She knew the expectations and rules. Most of the time she didn’t have to worry. She was… anxious that the rules, the protocol of their relationship were going to change and she wouldn’t know what she was supposed to do. That didn’t mean she didn’t want to move in with him, but it didn’t stop the anxiety either.
“I’ll borrow the Captain’s cat,” said Roman. He leaned back in the chair he was sitting in while he waited for the food. To him, so far, anyway, little had changed, besides the few of her things she’d brought over he could spot.
“She a sweet cat. Totally attached to the captain. She seems to be growing. She’s not so little anymore. At least she doesn’t run from me anymore when I have to go in.” Rand grinned, “She even lets me pet her, now.” Rand could always talk about animals. Rand pulled out the bowl of fruit and set it on the table with two forks.
Roman nodded. “Healthier, too.” He’d helped the Captain when she first brought the small and somewhat malnourished kitten aboard.
His words made her pause. She couldn’t wring her hands or hide them behind her back - they were full. But she paused long enough to be noticed. She didn’t say anything at first, just kept making tea. It was flattering to know Roman found her physically attractive, but gave her butterflies too. But anxiety and all she didn’t say no. Instead a very shy, “Maybe,” before handing him his tea.
Rand
She paused, long enough for him to notice, and he thought she was going to say no. Instead, she managed a quiet and shy ‘maybe’. That was enough for him, he smiled. “Fantastic, I’ll remember.” He remembered everything generally.
~ Roman
Rand groaned softly. Just when she thought she might stop blushing. She set several pieces of veggies on the floor for Pipkin. She picked through the fruit. He wasn’t going to forget. She groaned again. “Of course you will.”
Rand
Roman picked himself a small piece of fruit and nibbled on it, finally letting the topic move on. “What do you want to do with the rest of the night? Pack more of your things? Or relax here?” He’d already sipped away nearly half of his bedtime tea and he looked tired.
~ Roman
Rand would rather relax, she didn’t want to be up for a few more hours moving when they might be up later unable to sleep. It wasn’t that Rand had an over abundance of things, but a lot of it was related to her job, like the pantry and the extra uniforms and equipment for Rogers and all the files and data disks. She kept a lot in her quarters because her office was so tiny. She would have to figure out what to do with it all. “I’d rather stay here with you.” She started to say unless he really wanted to watch her kill Randy tonight. But since he had changed the subject she wasn’t bringing it back up. “We can watch a movie or read?” Roman enjoyed reading, so did she, so that was fine with her, “or we can just go to bed.”
Rand
“Let’s read,” Roman decided. He finished off the tea, grabbed one more piece of fruit, and then grabbed his PaDD and sat down on the bed. “Any suggestions?” He’d worked through his own reading list. He often read late at night when he couldn’t sleep. He had forgotten about watching Rand kill Randy, Rand wearing one of those nightgowns had been a far more interesting matter.
