The noodles were getting cold, and Roman felt bad that they might go to waste, but he still hadn’t taken a bite of it. He looked up at Rand and watched her put the kettle on for tea. Then he saw which packets she grabbed and he stood and went over to the counter next to her. “That’s the morning tea. You need the chamomile tea.” He hadn’t thought she was that tired, the packets looked completely different. His high caffeine black tea was in black packets with silver writing. The chamomile was in a white packet with flowers on it and purple writing. And the citrus tea packet was also white, with black writing and a picture of a lemon on it.

Rand looked down at the packets, and made herself breathe slow and deep, but it turned into a yawn anyway. She shook her head. “If I was yawn intending ta sleep, I would. This,” she tapped the morning tea and then looked up at him, “is exactly what I want.” She felt if the water didn’t boil soon she might fall asleep standing up. But it was very important she stay awake.
Rand
Roman put his hands over hers gently to stop her from making the tea. “You look like you’re about to fall asleep where you are. You need sleep. You will be too tired to work if you don’t.” He looked at her. Circles under her eyes, droopy eyelids, slow, tired movements. Just like him when he wasn’t sleeping. “You haven’t been sleeping, have you? Perhaps I should get Randy?”

Roman put his hands over hers and she looked up at him, clearly bleary-eyed. Rand knew she was too tired to work, that was the point. No that wasn’t the point. Refusing to sleep until he ate was the point. “Then you should hurry up and eat so I can go to bed.” She was tired and wanted to go to sleep. She should not tell him she hadn’t been sleeping . Then he would get really stubborn. But she didn’t want to lie either. She was too tired to successfully pull it off anyway - acting like she was fine and awake and able to work. He’d never believe her. She shook her head, “Can’t.” She was not going to win this one. The idea of him getting Randy forced a tired giggle from her, but she really didn’t want him to do that. Rand leaned a hip against the counter and her back against the corner of the wall. His hands were warm over hers, and she really just wanted to hug him. However if she did that she’d just get comfortable and fall asleep like he wanted. She shook her head, “Eat the I’ll sleep.” She closed her eyes, just for a moment…really.
Rand
Roman shook his head. “I’m just not hungry. I’ll be fine. You on the other hand, need sleep.” He kept his hands over hers, sort of holding them now. She seemed to hesitate a moment before she shook her head. She looked like she could barely keep her eyes open. He moved his hands off hers and hugged her instead, gently trying to get her to move towards the bed. “You can’t deprive yourself of sleep until I eat.” He would follow through on his word to get Randy. Randy would want her to sleep. And he’d liekly be very interested to know Roman wasn’t sure she’d been sleeping nearly as long as he hadn’t. Or at least not well.
