Turning in the chair a whining and beeping continued unabated among the blinking lights and switches. Then finally Karl would focus and they could see that sensor array 2 on for the port dorsal side of the ship was reporting an energy leak on deck 6 just outside the ship’s lower primary cargo bay. The energy leak was minor, but it was having a 2.37% drop in power flow efficiency on all related systems in that area.

No sooner had this been taken in when there was a dull thumping along the hull nearby! Sounding like small pebbles hitting the hull. Over by the science station the NE there piped up, “..Ma’am, reporting quite fast micro meteorites bypassing our deflector screens. All this junk interference from the Abyss is causing our normal deflection process to be hampered by 40%, no damages though reported..” he said.

“I’ve got a minor energy leak, deck six, lower primary cargo bay, external” Karl piped up just after the scientist finished their report “2.37% drop in PFE on all related systems” He immediately began a system diagnostic of the area where the leak was taking place.

SCPO Karl - Eng

The leak as mentioned was just outside the ship’s lower primary cargo bay. An in person investigation would be needed to get more details otherwise.

“Small drops of water can wear away a stone.” Cleolet said as she listened to the officers on the bridge “Polarise the hull plating. That should buy us a bit of a buffer time” she added as she hit the com panel on the captains chair =c= Bridge to engineering. We’ve got micro asteroids hitting the hull. no damage yet but put the damage control teams on stand by just in case=c=

The NE at the tactical station nodded, “..Polarizing the hull now..” he said, immediately the thudding dimmed some but was still present obviously.

Down in the engine room the NJLt on duty replied, =/\= Aye ma’am, damage control teams going to standby =/\= She said.

She then turned to the helm then Karl “How high can we orbit while still being able to main transporter lock?” she asked. She wanted to know if she could launch the probes they had been working on, the one they had boosted to give better signal and act as sensor relays. If they could get a high enough orbit the probes in theory would go further and the signal would stay stronger longer.

Lieut j.g Cleolet (CE)

Karl could reply that as long as they kept within 30,000km they could keep a reliable lock. Unfortunately even with probes being used as a relay to keep a lock this became a more dicey proposition for any beaming. They could do it if they wanted but it was not an ideal choice the more probes used to relay the more chance of risk to signal loss during transport. As for using probes to go check out the strange solar anomalies picked up earlier, again this could be done but due to the probes having far less sensitive equipment packages then the Sentinel herself readings would be less detailed then they might like.

GM CockRoach

Karl piped up “We can keep a lock within thirty thousand Kilometers, but the probes won’t be able to give as detailed information as we’d like” He said “Weighing the two options, maintaining a transport lock versus detailed scan information, I’d say the former outweighs the latter.”

SCPO Karl - Eng

OOC: Just bumping again and letting you guys make the choice to stay in orbit/launch probes or something else to gather information on the Abyss. Someone can also go check that power loss (hint hint!)…

GM CockRoach

Cleolet thought for a moment then nodded “Take us up to twenty nine thousand kilometres and launch the probes. We might as well try and gather what information we can” she said simply it wasn’t ideal but she could try and do what she could.

“Oh and Chief once that’s done. Do me a favour go check on that power drain. I want to make sure it isn’t something that’s going to turn into a big problem later” she added after a small pause.
