USS Sentinel

Main Sim - Alien Planet - Landing Party 2 Outside Valiki

[snip]

Alwyn looked back at Kovan and quickly nodded at him. The explosion was an evident priority, especially if some of the locals try to investigate around the area and tampered with any clues they might find.

As the second landing party stood around deciding what to do, distantly somewhere in the nearby mountainous forests a wolf howled in victory and the cry of some animal falling prey to it was heard, otherwise rain continued to beat down on them at a steady rate through the tree tops.

Nkosenye waited for several heartbeats and then wordlessly began walking in the direction of the explosion site.

Nkosenye, Intel
As the group start walking, Alwyn took his tricorder out of the pouch he was carrying and kept it under his cape while scanning for life signs. After hearing the wolf howl, he thought it might be a good idea to make a quick scan now. He reminded himself to do another one when they will arrive at the explosion site.

Doctor Alwyn Yarwood - Enseign

Roman headed in the direction of the explosion site with the team, waiting to pull his tricorder out until they got there. The last thing he wanted to do was risk someone seeing it. He was on alert to the sounds of local wildlife. It was his field of study, he’d love to look around but that wasn’t why they were here.

~ Lt Cmdr Alden, XO/CSO

As the group set out heading away from the village, they soon passed by several outlying farms. These were it seems small personal affairs not anything setup for commercial or industrial use by the nearby village. Eventually the softer wet ground gave way to more rocky firm hillsides. A few bird like chirps and cries were heard here and there though none were actually seen. Eventually following the directions they had been given earlier the team rounded up a steep rocky hill overlooking the personal farms below and came upon a clearing. It was roughly octagonal in a haphazard shape, and about 200 yards around give or take here and there. At the far ‘north’ end of the clearing was a steep rock face and opening to what seemed a moderately sized cave. In the centerish area of the clearing though was a smokey burnt area of ground. Even with the steady heavy drizzle of rain and the colder air around them, as they got within 50 feet they found it was still quite hot in temperature. The ground was pitted, and burned down to a depth of roughly 10 feet, the burn site was an almost perfect circular 20ft radius. A faint trail leading off or to this spot to the edge of the clearing to the ‘north-east’ side not far from the cave seemed to be its ending point. This meant either whatever caused this burn circle either came from that point, or something exploded here and then trailed back to the north-east spot.
