Roman smiled as Rand leaned up against him and he readjusted the blanket to make it cover him better without taking too much of it away from Rand. “The best part about all this, getting so much time with you.”

~ Roman

Rand glanced up at him, through her lashes, a wildly playful look on her face, “So your saying if I want all this time together to continue, I should find a way to convince Elbbirt to keep you on medical leave?”

Rand

Roman smiled and then shook his head. “If you want to drive me crazy with boredom when you’re not here, yes.” He knew Elbbirt would have preferred him take a longer medical leave anyway. It probably wouldn’t take much convincing from Rand to make him change his mind. But Roman would lose his marbles if he had to sit around and stare at the walls in his quarters much longer.

~ Roman

Rand giggled a little at the idea of Roman going crazy from boredom. Then fakes indignation. “Hey I left you plenty to do. It’s not my fault you didn’t take advantage.”
About that time Pipkin made her way onto the bed and made short order of making her presence known. “I don’t think she’ll let you get bored. She’s pretty high demand. I had no idea. I would really hate for you to go crazy though.” Then very shyly she kissed him.

Rand

“All those pain meds made it impossible to focus on anything. I’m so happy I don’t need them anymore.” Roman said stubbornly. Then he smiled as the bunny made her way onto the bed. “No she won’t. She’s the loudest little bunny I’ve ever seen.” He leaned into her a little bit. “Good, I’d hate to be crazy, too.” Then she kissed him and he kissed her back.

~ Roman

Rand leaned closer into him when he kissed her back. She liked kissing Roman. Especially when he was holding her, and she felt warm and nervous - in a good way.

When the kiss finally ended Rand looked a little dazed. “I think I’m a little crazy about you.”

Rand

Roman gave her that boyish, mischievous robin hood look, smiling at her. “You are, are you? Then you wouldn’t mind doing that again,” he said softly to her. Kissing her was one of the best things to do. His time in Sickbay had proven how relaxing it was.

~ Roman

“Yeah…” Rand was a little too dazed to realize what she said caused that look on her face. If she did, she’d just get nervous and hide her face in his shoulder. Instead that look of his made her blush and then Rand shook her head. No she wouldn’t mind doing that again, not at all. “No I don’t mind.” Roman hugging her was her favorite thing. It made her feel calm and peaceful and safe. Apparently he liked hugging and kissing her too because it always dropped his heart rate, after it went up. That made her grin a little goofely.

Rand

Roman’s smile got bigger when she said she didn’t mind. She still seemed dazed, in a good way. Rand always blushed and gave him that shy look and Roman thought it was cute. Then her grin turned into a light goofy grin and he smiled, not knowing what she was thinking of. Roman turned, hugging her tighter, and kissed her again.

~ Roman

Rand really liked it when he smiled. Roman never smiled at work. Not that he scowled but he was just serious. It made him looked relaxed and boyish and only she got to see him that way. When Roman turned closer to her, her arms went around his neck. She wasn’t sure how long he kissed her but she was content to stay that way. Eventually the kiss ended though, and she tucked her head onto his shoulder and sighed.

Rand

The kiss ended eventually, Roman really didn’t know how long they kissed and he didn’t really care. He was perfectly happy to stay there forever. But as they always had to, the kiss ended, and Rand lay her head on his shoulder. Roman leaned his head gently against hers. “Now if only we both had medical leave,” he commented quietly, smiling again.

“I could always play up how much my ankle hurts.” She was sure Elbbirt and Randy would love her then. “As long as they let me stay in here with you.” And then there was the soft weight of a 2 pound bunny on her side, “Yes and you too.” Rand grinned, her voice taking on that talking to cute animals quality, and reached with one hand over to scratch her behind the years. Then with Rand’s arm out of the way Pipkin made her way onto Roman and settled down on him instead, right where Rand’s arm had been. Rand shook her head against his shoulder, “I think she’s jealous,” then her head settled back on his shoulder and closed her eyes, enjoying the moment.

Rand

Roman smiled. “They likely would. Randy knows you don’t like Sickbay and there’s no difference between resting it here or resting it next door.” Then Pipkin settled in on him and Roman shook his head. “Such a needy little girl, aren’t you?” He said, petting the bunny. “I think you’re right, wants all the attention to herself,” he said, and then he closed his eyes too, sitting with Rand in a happy silence for a while.

And then the alarm was going off and Rand did not want to move. She reached for the control panel on her bedside table but instead her hand came into contact with Roman’s chest and that woke her up instantly. She stretched to reach and finally shut off the annoying, ear heating beeping. She didn’t sit up right away. The idea of playing up the injury to her ankle was tempting, but that would put things further behind and it was irresponsible. She had her duty, and it was important, if not glamorous. Just how she liked it. She sat there a minute in the semi dark and silence, but not too long she would fall asleep again.

Looking around for Pipkin she heard a faint rustling sound and realized she was in her cage, eating. “Roman? I have to leave soon.”

Rand

The alarm woke Roman up as surely as if it had been his own. He started to roll over and instead a hand made contact with his chest and he opened his eyes. Rand was still there, but it was early. Roman wasn’t usually awake for another hour or so. Then he stretched as Rand spoke to him. “Not going to play up your injury and skip duty after all? No long quiet day right here with me?” He was teasing her a little, he knew she wouldn’t do it. She took her duties as seriously as he did his and she hated being away from them nearly as much.

~ Roman

Rand, still curled up against him sighed. “I would but I think Randy would know I’m lying and he’d rat us out. Besides I think a long quiet day with you would be better on a day off. Besides, we both know Elbbirt is going to lift your movement restrictions today, and if you stayed in bed, he would be back and haul you down to Sickbay to find out what was wrong that you didn’t tell him. And I would be very…unhappy if he ruined our plans.” It was true, but she was teasing him back. “Go back to sleep. I’ll bring breakfast and tea back with me.” She kissed him before sliding off the bed and slipping her shoes on.

She walked into her quarters, quietly. She didn’t want to wake Randy. She grabbed a clean uniform and headed for the shower. Today she wasn’t late, so she wasn’t flustered, so she was in a good mood, so it was a better morning. Even though she was in a rush to get back.

Rand

Roman smiled sleepily. “Let’s see him try hauling me back there.” He rolled back over briefly after she got up. Like Randy had predicted, the pain in his leg was down. Not gone, but about what it had been before Kelmao. With any luck it would keep going away. Moving was going to be a lot easier.

After Rand had returned to her own quarters, Roman got himself up. He was already awake, might as well start the day. He was careful and slow at first as he stood off the bed, but he found that he’d been right - moving was a lot easier when the pain wasn’t so bad. He tried walking with no support, and he still had a limp, a very noticeable one, but he could move slowly on his own. Walking on it made it hurt more, but after the pain he’d been in since the neuro block was removed the pain now did little as a deterrent. It was easier if he supported himself with something. The wall or one of the crutches.

He abandoned the crutches yet again. Using the wall for support, he made it to the bathroom with little problem. He had his own shower and when he was finished he got a fresh set of clothes. Then he nearly autopiloted himself straight down to the labs but he stopped himself and sat on the bed instead.
