Shirley sat comfortably at the table in the conference room in front of the computer while she reviewed Ensign E’usah’s personnel file. She served as as the navigator of the Sentinel which was a very important position in her opinion. Shirley donned her lime green duty uniform top which went well with her lovely green eyes along with black pants and boots. She had her legs crossed casually and appeared to have the mindset of a focused Captain. She concluded her careful study of the Ensign, rose to her feet, and approached the communications panel on the door by the entrance to the room. She pressed the button and spoke with a little bit of authority in her vocal tone.

=o= Ensign E’usah, Report to the conference room please. =o=

Captain Shirley Rogers, CO

E’usah was manning the NAV station on the bridge and had just been updating their position in relation to the planets and the away teams locations. She jumped a bit when she heard the Captain’s summons, “this was bit unusual” she thought as she tapped her comm-badge, “On my way ma’am.” Still wondering what this was all about she grabbed her PaDD and headed for the conference room, straightening her uniform as she went. Soon she was at the door and checked her uniform one last time, smoothing out imaginary wrinkles, as usual she wore no footwear, her only adornment a small hoop earring, and her hair done in a long braid hanging down her back, Taking a deep breath she pressed the door chime.

BUMP
BUMP
*BUMP*
AND BUMP AGAIN

As E’usah stood outside the door to the conference room awaiting permission to enter, she mentally rehashed all the possible reasons the Captain might want to see her. Was it possible that she had made some sort of critical error in her calculations ? She felt confident that all was as it should be there, she checked and rechecked all her calculations and there was just no way she could have made an error. Perhaps some member of her family had fallen ill or been involved in an accident, that was a possibility she had to consider. She had been thrust into the role of Navigator immediately upon arrival aboard and other than brief exchanges on the bridge had never actually met or talked to the Captain at length; that must be it. She knew that the Captain liked to know a bit about her officers and their personal lives, why they chose a career in Star Fleet, did they choose to aboard the Sentinel or was it just luck of the draw, that type of thing. Surely that must be what this was all about.

E’usah checked her uniform again, no wrinkles or spots. She pulled her braid around and smoothed it and tightened it a bit. She checked her PaDD and had all the current Nav information available as well as positional plots of the away teams locations. She reached up and felt the small hoop earring in her right ear, it was well under regulation size. She wondered if perhaps the Captain had not heard the chime and debated pressing it again. Would that be seen as being anxious, or pushy, perhaps as impatient ? She resisted the impulse and instead smoothed the tuft of hair that grew at the end of her tail.
