Roman stretched as Rand settled in, sitting in the chair near his bed. “I hope the day wasn’t busy for you,” he said. He still sounded groggy but as Randy had predicted he was waking up a little. He sat up a little bit more and looked at her.~ Roman
“I like busy days. It means I’m useful.” Rand lifted one shoulder but smiled at him. It always came back to that - being useful. “I thought you might sleep some. Are you okay?”
Rand
“Then I hope it was busy,” said Roman and then he smiled too. He nodded and gestured vaguely to the shared wall between their quarters. “Randy gave me something, that’s why I’m so tired.” He reached over for her hand. He was comfortable and relaxed, he didn’t really need the comfort but he liked it anyway. He shuddered at the thought of Sickbay but he did miss how she’d laid against him while he was there.

“It was, but I’m glad it’s over now.” Rand nodded and slipped the boots off her feet. Randy was right, she looked good in them, but they were not something she wanted to try and curl into a chair with. “Your body is probably tired from everything too.” Rand reached over and took his hand. She much preferred how she’d laid with him in sickbay, but it was a little different being alone in his room. And this is how they’d always sat, him on the bed and her in the chair. She wasn’t sure if she should move, if he would want her to. Also he didn’t have the nerve block anymore and she didn’t want to hurt him. “Do you want anything?”
Rand
It was a little different alone in his room than it was in Sickbay, and Roman didn’t want to make her anxious or uncomfortable. He wanted her to move but he felt like the question might make her uncomfortable and make things feel awkward. Initially he shook his head to her question, but after another minute he worked himself up and said, “You could sit over here, if you like. With me. You won’t hurt me, I feel filled up to the eyeballs on pain killers.” He knew that would be a concern, that she’d accidentally bump or shift him and hurt his leg, but he wasn’t kidding. Even though his leg did still hurt, a mid dose of the stuff felt like more than enough for him.

She wasn’t sure why she was disappointed when he first said no. Maybe because she was slightly on edge from the last few days and wanted something to do, or maybe because she was as tired as he looked, or something else. “Oh.” She seemed surprised but happy that he asked. She got up and moved around to his other side, away from the injured leg and then paused looking down at the sleeping bunny. “Maybe I should move her. I can leave the cage door open.” Very carefully she scooped the sleeping little rabbit up and opening the cage and lifting the little igloo she placed her on the bedding, replaced the igloo and closed the door. Then she opened the bottom hatch, the worked like a ramp.
Then, a little awkwardly, Rand sat down on the bed next to him and stretched out, her back against the head board. Then after a moment she leaned her head over onto his shoulder. “I’m really glad your out of sickbay.”
Rand
Roman nodded when Rand said she should move the bunny. He shifted to make more space on his left side, still using his hands to assist in moving his injured leg before Rand came back. She seemed a little awkward at first, then she seemed to relax a little and she put her head on his shoulder. He put his arm around her and smiled. “I am, too. It’s been much better to relax in my own space.” Then his smile turned a little more playful and he added, “Even when your brother stuck around all evening.”

Roman put his arm around her and she had to agree that was much better than sitting in the chair. She reached for his other hand and her shoulders seemed to relax a bit. “Home is always better than there.” It really wasn’t that Rand hated doctors or medicines she just hated the place - sickbay or hospitals. She glanced up at him and returned his grin. “Well at least he left when I got back. I don’t know though, either he’s decided he likes you or he feels like he needs to chaperone his ‘little’ sister. Either option is a little scary.”
Rand
Roman had no problem with doctors and he mostly didn’t like how pain meds made him feel. He just didn’t like the questions they might have to ask and the memories associated with both Sickbay and treatment. And with other meds, well, if he needed them he might need to go to Sickbay, and… It all tied back to not wanting to remember things. He made a mock scared face. “If he’s decided he likes me, I think we can safely assume the apocalypse is nigh,” he said in mock seriousness. He didn’t say it, but he believed what Randy had said earlier - that he simply didn’t want to make Rand angry by leaving him alone. Essentially, he felt like the one being chaperoned, it felt like they were making sure he was never alone. He didn’t really mind, he’d rather Rand be there at least, but Randy sticking around when he didn’t need to was… almost kind of awkward.

She giggled at the face he made. Then going along with his mock fear she gave a little shutter, “If it really is the apocalypse what shall we do on our last day alive?” Rand had no idea why Randy had stayed so long. If she had to guess, she would say it had something to do with Roman’s medical stuff. She was going to say something to Randy about picking on her in front of Roman though…maybe, if she didn’t make herself anxious. “Well he’s gone now and promised not to come back until tomorrow.” The nice thing about not being perched on the chair she was able to be closer and she was able to relax because she wasn’t at risk of falling between the chair and the biobed.
Rand
This time his face of… not disgust, but displeasure, was real. Not because of Randy coming back, he preferred Randy over some doctor or nurse he didn’t know was well, but because Randy’s morning visit would be for another dose of medication. Rand looked way more comfortable than in Sickbay, probably because she was actually on the bed instead of wedged between a biobed and a chair. “Good for us, though. It’s been nearly a week since we’ve been here, just the two of us.”
