[snip]With the landing teams preparing to beam down, and the autopilot engaged there was not too much to do with manual control. Their orders were too study this odd region which there certainly could be plenty of things to do there. They could also attempt more in depth scans of the planet to try to isolate the warp burst that drew them here.

Cleolet stood on the bridge hovering around the captains seat. She was the ranking officer with the others on the landing teams. The ship was hers to command for now, she had just got to grips with running engineering. Now she was running the whole ship. She would be lying if she said it didn’t intimidate the hell out of her. She had only just been promoted and it felt like she hadn’t earned the right to sit in the big chair. But with some hesitation she took a deep breath and sat down.
Surveying the bridge she watched the bridge crew work, there wasn’t a huge amount to do but that wouldn’t stop her form coming up with something “Science can we do any better on those sensor reading that brought us here?” She asked.

NE Willy at the science station looked up from his console after peering through the viewfinder. “..Even with probes out there what we got is what we got I’m afraid. The interference inside the Abyss is just too great to really overcome any further. I would suggest we begin a targeted approach to points of interest within the system for now and then work out from there.” he suggested. “..The fact this system seems somewhat an ‘oasis’ within the Abyss is strange enough to me, the interference while still present is much less within the system’s solar effects but once we get outside its effective hold then its a lost cause again. So maybe starting at the solar body and working out from there would be a idea?” he added.

“Good idea,” Quinn agreed, stepping over to look over Willy’s shoulder at the console. “So, what, we point the scanners at the star and interpret whatever data we get from that?” She also figured they’d probably have to keep an eye on the comms - if the landing parties needed picking up real quick, she didn’t want to leave them hanging.
