Shirley sat at the head of the table in the conference room next to the computer reviewing her Marcus Anders’ personnel file. He was her newly promoted Chief of Security and since she had the same background in the past, her review ended up being quite thorough. She wore her lime green colored duty uniform top accompanied by black pants and boots. She had made herself quite comfortable as she had her legs crossed casually and appeared to be focused on the task at hand. A few moments passed before she rose to her feet and approached the communications panel on the door by the entrance to the room. She pressed the button and spoke in a calm tone,

=o= Lieutenant Anders, I need you to report to the conference room. =o=

Captain Shirley Rogers, CO

Several decks down in the Security Office, Lieutenant Junior Grade Marcus Anders sat, coffee in one hand and a clipboard in the other. At the sound of the communications chime he crossed his office to the panel on the wall. Marcus had spent most of the morning working through mid-mission reports for the members of his crew, so was glad of the break, “=^= Aye Captain, I’m on my way. =^=” As he was crossing his office to head towards the nearest turbolift, Anders came to the sudden realisation that he had not had much of an interaction with the Sentinel’s CO, so immediately became nervous at the thought of what Rogers may have in store for him. Straightening his uniform jacket in the reflection of the door a couple of times before hitting the door chime, Marcus stepped into the conference room and stood at attention, “Lieutenant Junior Grade Marcus Anders, reporting as ordered ma’am.”

Shirley stood up and approached her Chief of Security to greet him as she extended her right hand offering to shake his own. She looked up at him and met his gaze as she held mostly direct eye contact with Anders and had a relaxed demeanor as she understood that officers often get a tad bit nervous when first meeting their Commanding Officer, “Hi. I’m Captain Shirley Rogers. How are you Lieutenant Anders? I hear that congratulations are in order for your recent promotion to Lieutenant and the new Security Chief here on the Sentinel. I look forward to seeing what you can do in your role.”

Shirley pivoted off of her back heel and headed for her chair. Before taking a seat she gestured to the one nearest to her, “Lieutenant have a seat and talk to me about your plans for the upcoming future in the Security Department. I am almost certain that your goal is to have the best Security Department in the Fleet. If I’m incorrect then that will be a different conversation later.” She grinned slightly in response to the last part of her statement.

Marcus took a seat and chuckled lightly, “Believe me, I’m a firm but fair Chief ma’am, but I do still like to develop a rapport with the lads and lasses under my watchful eye. I’m hoping I can eventually reach out to offer some additional Security training to those in other departments, just so we have an expansive group who are willing to defend the ship. I would never do anything without the permission of the CO of course.” Marcus gave a sheepish grin.
