“No, thank you.” Maybe tea would relax him somewhat, but he wasn’t much in the mood. And he just wanted to be out of anyone’s way while he was here. As he normally did with anyone besides Rand, he was hiding his discomfort and… nervousness? Was that what that was? He decided to focus on Rand instead. He was going to mention something about if she wanted to do anything after they let her out of Sickbay, but he wasn’t going to do so with the nurse present, so instead he said somewhat awkwardly, “I’m sure you’ll be glad to be back to normal.”~ Roman
Shrine nodded and moved away. The department was unusually busy and she had other patients to check on. Rand nodded, “I am, I feel like I’m constantly behind, playing catch up. I think I need to find a different deck to run on though. Stay away from the cargo bays.” Rand shifted on the bed, her leg getting stuff from holding it still. “What I really want is to get out of here.” She might have been talking about sickbay in general or the amount of people. She glanced up at the clock, another hour....or just under.
Rand
Roman smiled again. “I’m sure there’s another quiet deck at 0500.” He looked around, making sure the nurse and anyone else really was gone, and then said, “What do you want to do when you do get out of here?”

Rand nodded, maybe one of the residential decks. Her track shoes were quiet enough. She couldn’t help but smile back at him. “Something to eat if my stomach will handle it. Or maybe just tea…” She pushed herself to sit up more comfortably. “You like to play cards?”
“Of course I do, we used to play at academy,” Roman replied. “There was this one guy in my class, never could beat him. No one could,” he continued and smiled. “But we kept trying.”
“Slight of hand?” Rand never played in the poker games too many people in one place. If it was just cards it would be fine, but they wanted to talk. Randy on the other hand loved poker. Rand just liked to play cards. “Or did he count cards?”
Sickbay seemed to finally thin out some. Everyone who came in was seen by the medical staff, but Rand had no way of knowing if what ailed them was real or made up. But since she would never make up such a thing she didn’t consider that might have been what was going on. But Scott never showed so that probably wasn’t it. Just a busy night. So now that the rush had cleared Elbbirt came back in the room with a machine. Rand saw him pushing something and grabbed Roman’s hand, without thinking.
“Alright my dear, one more set of x-rays to make sure everything is fine. Then you can go.”
Rand
Before Roman saw Elbbirt Rand grabbed his hand and he glanced at her for a second, then looked and saw who was headed their way. He didn’t pull his hand away. Instead, he curled his fingers around her hand. One more set of x-rays, just a few more minutes and they could leave. That made Roman happy.

X-rays. That was easy, she could do that. Just pictures, and moving her foot around for the different angles didn’t hurt now. Her hand relaxed on Roman’s but didn’t let go. She was ready to get out of there. Elbbirt didn’t waste time. He was done quickly and then returned. “Alright Ensign, everything looks good. No more running into cargo pallets. And remember…”
“2 laps only, a quarter lap at a time, wrap my ankle.” Elbbirt nodded, “And for how long?”
Rand
“Three days,” repeated Roman without thinking. He’d memorized the directions. It was only afterwards that he worried how that would look, and so he said with a shrug, “I’m a scientist, we deal in details.” The extra information would probably only make it more obvious, because there was no reason to give a reason if they weren’t hiding something.
