As soon as the door shut behind her, she got the hug she felt she needed, because to Roman it looked like she could use one, too. Like before she’d had to leave, he put his arms around her and hugged her tightly. That she said dinner was amazing was good at least, that made him happy. “What happened with the Captain?” He asked. She was obviously angry. And she knew she couldn’t run until medical cleared her tomorrow. But he didn’t bring that up, at least not yet.

~ Roman

Rand wrapped her arms around his waist, forehead on his chest and after a moment relaxed slightly in his arms. Then at his question she huffed, and started pacing the small space.”Oh, Rogers? It didn’t. She wasn’t on the bridge, in fact no one knew where she was. Found her, in her quarters....asleep.” Rand spun and paced back again. “She didn’t call me, in fact no one knows where the request came from. Bha e na prank mallachd (It was a cursed prank)!” The more she thought about it, the more upset she got. Professionally and more so personally. Then with a frustrated sigh she was back in his arms, hugging him around the waist, forehead against his chest again. She really wanted to go run, get the aggravation out. “I’m sorry. I don’t think I’ll be very good company right now. I would ask you to go with me, but that will just wake you up.”

Rand

As she began to pace, explaining that no one had actually called, and their evening had been interrupted by an immature, disruptive, and distracting prank, Roman began to shake his head. Their evening aside, the whole thing would’ve made Rand look completely rediculous. Then she was hugging him again, and he put his arms back around her. “No, Miranda, you’re fine company, and besides you aren’t cleared to go running, remember?” It was quite like him to hold to the running ban till the moment Rand was formally cleared by medical. The prank was annoying, infuriating even, but there wasn’t anything they could do until they caught the responsible party.

~ Roman

Roman would remember that. She wanted to pace, run, maybe throw something. Or better yet, handcuff this person to a treadmill and make them run at her pace for the whole day. But she didn’t move, his arms effectively keeping her in place. Not that he was making her stay but his presence, his hug, and an hour and a half lost encouragement enough to keep her there. “I spent the last hour trying to figure out who gave the bridge the request. Jenkins didn’t recognize the voice. The call came from deck 2 corridor comm 3. No one knows who did it, or they’re lying.” Another sigh. “I want coffee tonight. Coffee or tea for you?”

Rand

Roman shook his head. “It’s late, there’s a good chance no one saw who it was.” The ship wasn’t usually busy during the designated night hours, and Deck 2 wasn’t usually a very busy deck anyway. “Tea.” Roman liked to only take the coffee when he needed its alcohol content to relax, and thankfully, tonight wasn’t one of those nights. After the disruption he wasn’t eager to let her go, as if to make up for lost time. But he’d have to, so she could make herself the coffee, as well as him the tea.

~ Roman

Rand nodded but didn’t move. Though she felt like that night was a coffee night for her she wasn’t eager to leave to make it. He had the tea here in his quarters, but she didn’t feel like walking the handful of paces to make it. Then suddenly the tension released from her shoulders. She was mad but she wasn’t angry anymore. She was just tired, tired of the extra needless work, tired of the childishness, tired of fixing ‘problems’ (pranks) that should have been problems. Her arms slipped up around his neck and she pressed closer into the hug. Then a soft confession name out, “I don’t want to make it, I just want to stay here.”

Rand

Roman could feel some of the tension come out of her shoulders, she was starting to calm down. Then she was pressing in closer to him, her arms around his neck, and he didn’t really want her to go anywhere either. His arms tightened around her, his hands on her back. “Then don’t. The drinks will be there later,” he replied. If she was staying there longer, he was perfectly content with no tea.

~ Roman

Rand let his embrace ease more of the tension out of her. It wasn’t going to do any good to get worked up, she knew that. “Hmmmm, okay.” She had no problem waiting to make tea. Honestly, she thought if he hugged her long enough she wouldn’t need the tea or want the coffee. She lifted her head to look up at him and make some teasing remark about the tea, but forgot what she was going to say. If Rand was honest with herself, she just wanted to pick up where they left off, and she turned that shade of red that Roman liked so much.
