The office was beyond little. With him standing inside, no one would be able to see her there was so little room. She looked up at him, she liked being that close to him. “I…I guess I should have asked you when you wanted me to come back. I…I wasn’t trying to avoid you.” She sounded a little breathless, but it had nothing to do with anxiety. She grinned, blushing slightly. She was right the first time, he did find a way to spend more time with her. “I want to spend more time with you, too.”Rand
“I wasn’t trying to avoid you, either.” Roman said. Her statement made him happy despite the tiny room which probably felt a lot smaller to him than her. He didn’t mind being basically right next to her, but did the walls need to be so narrow too? “Lunch tomorrow, then?” He asked, his little smile growing into a bigger one.

The room was small, but Rand had never noticed how small until Roman was in there wit her. Roman seemed to fill it. She nodded and grinned. “Yes, lunch tomorrow.” She really should have asked him earlier. Maybe she was more overwhelmed from the back log and having to hand write reports than she realized. BUT most of her reports were coming electronically in the evenings now, so she didn’t have to run everywhere. Just sit here at the desk.
Rand
“Speaking of lunch,” Roman said, unable to stop his curiosity any longer, “What did Ensign Scott find so interesting this morning, coincidentally?” The question seemed a bit nervous, maybe, as he looked at her waiting for an answer. Her love for gossip was well known and he couldn’t help but ask if she knew about… things.

Rand groaned but kept her voice quiet, “Oh lord, was she talking? She’s kind and smart, but she’s a thorn in my side. You were later than your usually early time. She wanted to know if I knew why because she’s seen us running together. She also is still stuck on the idea that I make you ‘less grumpy’. I told her I don’t manage your schedule, only Rogers’.” Rand shrugged, she didn’t think Roman was grumpy at all. “She mostly wanted to vent her woes and let me confirm them. She doesn’t like that I keep telling her that she’s being unrealistic or wrong. She came to see me in sickbay....” her voice dropped more. “She saw you carrying me to sickbay and wanted to find a story there. I told her, my foot was too broken to walk on. Eventually she believed me. She really helped me out though, so I figured I had to be polite to her. While I was out she collected all the lab reports and brought them to me in the mornings so I could work on them without chasing people down over the comms. I tried to shut her up, to let it go, but she just keeps going. Moving from one topic to the next.” She smiled up at him, “But I didn’t tell her anything that was personal, between us.”
Rand
Roman shrugged, too, half the ship thought he was grumpy and he was pretty sure Rand had told him Scott thought Rand made him more tolerable before. He thought that was kind of funny, really. And her seeing him carry Rand… Well, he would still do that for anyone, right? It wasn’t like she’d seen them kiss or hug or anything. “She never stops, she’d do well to focus on her work.” And then Rand smiled and let him know she’d kept their little secret between them and he couldn’t help but smile back. “Perhaps later on we’ll be more ready for that conversation with other people, eh?”
~ Roman
She had to agree, Scott’s enjoyment of gossip and talk had contributed to Rand’s distraction and rush to get done. She would have to be more diligent about focusing on her work and not on shutting Scott up when she was in the lab. She just really hated the way she talked about Roman. It really bothered Rand that he was being judged so unfairly. Rand let out a rueful laugh with a grin. “I don’t think I’ll ever be ready to have that conversation with Scott. But there is someone who has to be told, sooner rather than later. The consequences for not telling could be dire.” She was only half joking.
Rand
Scott would know the moment word got out, Roman was sure. Annoyingly. She normally didn’t bother getting all nosy with him but something like this? He was sure she wouldn’t be able to resist. Roman would rather her pester him than Rand though. He remembered the day in the lab his staff had caused Rand one of her panic events. He didn’t want Scott causing another one because they were dating. Roman could take a guess at who Rand meant. Her brother could be quite hotheaded normally, but in the course of the nights she’d spent telling him things, he’d gotten the feeling Randy could be… quite the overprotective brother. Roman was a little surprised Rand hadn’t already told him. “Randy? Surely he doesn’t dislike me that much?” He said, smiling slightly once again.
