No…no no no no. The rushing roar in her ears was immediate. She ground her teeth together to stop the fearful whimper from escaping. And her blood pressure and heart rate began to climb. She had thought Scott had let that go. The room spun and there was no Roman to make them leave this time. She hid her hands behind her back, twisting into the back of her shirt. “Nnn…nnn…No…I don’t… don’t suppose you would.” At least she was on the bed and couldn’t fall. Rand had the same look she had the day before when the nurse came in. Pale, clammy, and breathing funny.

“I mean, isn’t that every little girl’s dream? And you were right there! I can’t imagine it, but I was never very good at…” Scott trailed off. The biobed was reading a high heart rate, with accompanying climbing blood pressure. Rand’s breathing had changed and she looked pale and clammy. Just like the day before. “Are… are you okay?”

Oh it had been her dream and some days she still did dream of it. “Not…not everyone has…has the same dream…I..I like my work.” The pain in her chest only confirmed to her she’d made the right choice. She shook her head, no, she wasn’t okay. Really if she wasn’t reliving the whole horrid experience being stuck in sickbay she might have been okay.
