“Thank you.” Rand was quiet after that, the combination of medications finally putting her truly under. Shrine stepped back in to check her. “That was kind of you. The medical staff thanks you. She drove us all insane this morning with that communicator of hers, PaDD and the computer. Had people from all different departments running in and out of here like it was an admiral’s office.”Rand and Shrine
“She’s always running around the ship like that, I guess that’s what happens when everyone else has to do the running,” Scott said to the nurse, standing up. “I have to go, I guess I’ll be around later, huh?” She said and then she smiled.

Rand had endured another two rounds with the bone fuser by 0545 the next morning. Cmdr Alden had caught her trying to sneak out of sickbay in the middle of the night, and she’d reinjured the foot so she’d be in sickbay even longer. But he hadn’t told on her. He had even stayed while she had another session with the bone fuser though she’d tried to get him to leave - he hated sickbay. After she’d slept all day though she’d refused to take any more meds until Alden convinced her to take it before he left. She secretly wished he’d come back before his shift, but that was selfish, if he was actually able to sleep he didn’t need to get up early to come see her. But now she was awake and it was almost 0600 and she’d get to work. As long as Scott didn’t forget.
Yeoman Rand
Roman did not show up that morning, apparently either busy or sleeping. Preferably sleeping. At 0610, Scott hustled into Sickbay carrying the promised reports. “Sorry I’m late!” She said as she reached Rand and handed them over. Alden’s desk was quite organized, it was easy to find the reports. Scott had simply lost track of time. She’d have been later if Alden’s office and Sickbay weren’t so close together.

Rand blinked, it was only 0610. It took her at least 20 minutes to go collect all the reports from each of the labs. “Late? I wasn’t expecting you for awhile. Thank you.” Rand looked like Scott had brought her candy. She eased herself up on the bed and pulled at the swing arm so she could put the reports on the small table top next to the display. “No one gave you problems did they?”
Rand
“Oh! Good,” Scott said, smiling as she took a seat by Rand’s bed, where Alden usually sat. “No, no real trouble. I got a few annoyed questions, but a quick explanation cleared things right up!” She replied. Rand looked happy and that made Scott glad she’d agreed to do it.

Rand let out a relieved sigh. She was a bit of a tyrant the day before. Citing rules and regulations and basically being a pain in the rear. Calling over the comms and making people fix things. Normally she would run them back, but she couldn’t, so she made them do it. And really they were supposed to deliver their own reports, Rand was just being nice. She’d have to apologize and make it up to them. “I’m glad to hear that. I really appreciate it. It keeps people out of here and stops me from yelling over the comms…speaking of which.” Rand looked around but apparently someone had taken her communicator from her and resigned herself to it. She flipped through the lab notes looking for the ones from the biology lab. She wanted to know if Nibbles ate. She’d been trying to go see her when she attempted, and failed, to sneak out the night before. “How are the animals?” She was rather attached to them all, except Mr Wyvern, but really attached to Nibbles and Mushu. He was just cute with his wiggly dancing eyes.

Scott nodded, “I heard… I guess you were quite the terror.” Scott of course heard about Rand’s antics the day before. “They’re doing fine. No one has time to play with Nibbles like you do, though…” She sighed. “We’re always busy.” She sat back in the chair. “You know. With Alden and all.”

Rand grinned just a little bit, she had been. Rand had an amazing memory and she had wielded those rules and regulations like a fine edged sword. As long as she was following the rules, and knew she was in the right, Rand was a force of nature almost. As long as she didn’t think about it too much. “It took weeks before Nibbles would really interact with me. As long as she’s not getting scared or depressed it’s okay.” It wasn’t, but what else could she say? She did sigh at Scott though at her last comment. “Really, did you join Star Fleet expecting to not work? At least you get a normal schedule.” She said it with a smile. She knew most people liked easy work, or a laid back environment. Rand couldn’t operate that way. Scott probably wouldn’t understand. “I’d rather stay busy, you guys are lucky.” Rand was never ‘off’ duty. The little bit of time she got to spend with Nibbles at lunch was her down time. There were some weeks where she was done by 2100 and never called and then there were weeks where she mostly slept standing up while waiting to be handed reports, trays, waiting for the lift to arrive.
