News of Rand’s broken foot spread across the ship quickly, and Scott, being the ship’s gossip queen, was one of the first to hear about it. She wasn’t really sure if she and Rand were friends but the least she could do was visit while Rand was in the Sickbay. And so, after her night shift, she headed to Sickbay and took a seat next to Rand’s bed. “I heard you broke your foot. How’s it doing?”

Rand opened her eyes at the sound of Scott’s voice. She should have known the girl would show up. Rand had heard exclamation from the corridor as they passed the lab. She was here to gossip, at Rand’s expense. No, no that was mean and judgemental of Rand. Scott might gossip and she was, in her own way, nice to Rand.

She was groggy from the pain meds. Cmdr Alden had left awhile ago, after she’d dozed off from the bone fuser session. She looked down at her foot, invaded in a huge boot and propped up. “Uh…” She blinked and licked dry lips, her mouth dry from the meds, and tried to remember what the doc said. “I have to stay a couple days. I broke it in a few places.”

Rand

“Oh no! Everyone’s gonna miss you,” Scott said. She smiled and then added, “but you know who’s gonna miss you more? The commander! He seemed so upset, didn’t he?” Her tone gave away that she was enjoying the gossip, though she did feel bad about Rand’s foot.
