The work load was back to normal, and it would probably be easier to keep up if Roman didn’t hate paperwork so much. “I will look forward to when you start running again,” he said. He did miss the morning runs, even though he wasn’t usually much of a runner. He wondered if it was because it was with Rand, or because he was starting to like running.

It made Rand feel really happy to know that he wanted to run with her in the mornings. In truth, leading up to her accident, Rand had anticipated Roman joining her, and on the days he hadn’t she’d been both relieved that he was sleeping and sharply disappointed he wasn’t joining her. She squeezed his hand looking a little mischievous. The longer she was around him the more relaxed and like herself she felt.
“You know you don’t have to run with me. I’ll still help with your paperwork. But if you want Scottish coffee you’ll have to keep joining me.”

Rand

“Easiest choice of my life,” replied Roman, smiling at her once again. Joining her was something he’d like to do anyway. And their nightly chats were probably the only thing keeping him sleeping adequately. Besides, Roman needed no excuse to spend more time with Rand. He opted for tea rather than the coffee some nights, but Rand’s Scottish coffee was one of his favourite drinks these days.

Roman’s comment made Rand feel like butterflies were fluttering around in her stomach and she smiled. She was quiet for a bit but she wasn’t as self conscious this time. She was able to simply enjoy his presence for a moment before she realized it was quiet. “If you settled on another planet, after star Fleet, what is the one thing from Earth you would miss?”

Rand

“I think just the familiarity of it. Every planet does things a little differently, even the ones with established colonies or cultures of their own. And some are better than Earth, but I think being away, you miss the faults as well as the good points.” Roman hoped his answer made sense. That no matter what the planet was like, it wouldn’t be Earth, and because of that, it would be quite different from living on Earth, and sometimes even ‘good-different’ could make one homesick.
