E’usah entered the coordinates into the Nav computer and did a few quick calculations, then checked the calculations again, ” Sir we can deviate to the proto star for no longer than six hours, then by increasing our speed slightly we should still make our destination on time.” E’usah sat back in her chair and waited for the Cdr’s orders, ready to send the course corrections to the helm, if that was the decision.

E’usah - NAV

Rand returned report in hand. It had better be right this time. Rand had to call the captain and explain she would be late arriving with the reports because someone in science wasn’t doing their job. Now department reports didn’t go to Rogers, they went to Alden. So Rand had the captain’s reports finished, but chasing down a wayward ensign that was more concerned with showing off for the new female enlisted engineer in the gym was making her mad, and worse it was making her late. No one would really notice, Rand was calm and composed when she arrived on the bridge, but if she had to get it fixed again…she might let Randy slip a woman’s uniform into the guy’s gym locker. She handed the report and black tea to Alden. Then, while he reviewed it she made a sweep to see if anyone else was going to need a refill of drinks. Stopping at E’usah, “Need a refill?” E’usah had been nice to her, and she didn’t blame her for what had happened on her arrival, and Rand, though shy was always polite, or tried to be. Glancing at read out she asked softly, “Oh, are we going somewhere else?”

Yeoman Rand

Roman checked over the report. And finally signed off on it. “Ah, I knew he could do better.” He said as he handed it off to Rand. “My notes are down in my science office, on my desk. I didn’t think I’d need them. I just need them by the time we arrive at this star,” he said to Rand, asking her to get them, but letting her know it didn’t have to be right this instant. He turned backed to E’usah and nodded. “It won’t take six hours to have a look, get a few good scans, and go. Make the adjustments.” They were out there to explore after all, and if they could see this and be on time, nothing was lost.

~ Lt Cmdr Alden, XO/CSO

Rand nodded and took the report and disappeared. For how quiet it was that day, Rand felt like she was running circles. She came back much later having had met with Rogers and prepared special reports for her and gotten her lunch. Rand had missed lunch but had a large thermos if coffee for herself. She should have gone with the citrus water but she was just too tired and needed a pick-me-up. She brought fresh drinks for everyone. Giving Alden his reports first she then collected the mid day update while also passing out the drinks. Some days she felt like a waitress.

Yeoman Rand

Roman took his reports, reading through them before finishing them. Again he held one aside while he finished the rest. “This one needs to go to planetary sciences. An ensign…” He looked at the report “MacGuire needs to learn a thing or two about reports.” Maybe he could finish all the paperwork sometime today, he thought, rather sick of going through it all.

~ Lt Cmdr Alden, XO/CSO

Rand gave E’usah an small smile, “I’ll bring a refill on way back,” and went to grab the wayward report. Rand looked at it…it wasn’t bad, but Cmdr Alden had very strict standards. She disappeared off the bridge to go track down MacGuire. The standby science officer gave her a look and shook his head. She had no idea what that was about. The officer really thought Scott was crazy now. Poor Rand like she didn’t have enough to do with tracking down lazy officers who didn’t like Alden’s standards. He saw Rand everywhere. She always seemed to pop exactly where she was needed with what was needed. He wasn’t sure how she managed it.

The harried Yeoman returned about an hour later, having gone over the expectations and correct formatting with MacGuire. She handed Alden the report and passed out drinks again. Stopping by E’usah with a refill of her drink. “How far away are we?”

Yeoman Rand

The Helmsman on duty, Ens. Jeeter, began to cough, covering up his mouth and coughing into his arm. It stopped after a few moments, then started up again. His face was going kinda green.

Helm NPC

Rand looked over at Jeeter, “NE Jetter are you alright?” Yes she knew his name, she knew most of the crew by sight if not personally. She glanced at at E’usah wondering if the navigator knew what was going on, and then back at Alden, since he was in charge of the bridge at the moment. Jeeter didn’t look good at all, and Rand took a half step out of the way in case he got sick.

Roman was keeping an eye on the situation. “If you need to step off, you should,” he said to Jeeter. He’d rather a sick crewman switch off on the bridge than not have their full focus on their work. Especially helm.

Lieutenant Junior Grade Marcus Anders stepped out of the turbolift and crossed the Bridge to his station, “Morning all,” he said warmly.

-Lieutenant Junior Grade Marcus Anders: Chief of Security-

A few moments later, Jeeter nodded, “I probably should go … to sickbay.” He grumbled slightly, holding his stomach. Great Bird, he shouldn’t have had that homemade kambucha this morning. His friend had said it looked a bit odd but did he listen? Noo.... “Uh, E’usah, could you… call my replacement? I think… Quinn is on pick-up this shift.” With that, Jeeter put the ship on Autopilot and stumbled off the Bridge.

Rand moved away from the nav/helm stations and over towards the security chief, on her way to her next errand. “Good Morning, Lt. Can I bring you back anything? Coffee or tea?” The way some of the day bridge crew mainlined liquid intake she was surprised they could stay at their stations for a whole shift.

Yeoman Rand

“A milky tea would be lovely lass,” Marcus replied, “Anything interesting happened so far?”

-Lieutenant Junior Grade Marcus Anders: Chief of Security-

Rand nodded, “We changed course to look at something Astrometrics wanted a closer look at. I’ll be back with the tea.”

E’usah whispered a quiet “Thank you” to Rand then checked her monitor, “We’re nearly there, about two more hours at this speed.” She picked up her mug and slowly sipped the hot tea, savoring the minty flavor, along with the cream. She tended to nurse a mug of tea and often the last few sips were cool. She turned back to her console and let her tail droop over her right shoulder where she could idly fluff the tuft of hair at the end.

E’usah - NAV

Rand nodded to E’usah and then headed for the lift. She was back about 15 minutes later, dropping off the milky tea for Anders and then she was gone again. 45 minutes after that she was back, PaDD and a stack of mid-day department status reports for Alden to review and sign.

Yeoman Rand

Quinn arrived during Rand’s first absence, scratching her chin and carrying a tall water-bottle as she sat down at her station. The bottle went on the floor by her feet and her attention immediately turned to the Helm. She wasn’t her usual chipper self, giving E’usah a small smile but otherwise not really making any noise.

OOC: Fixing Split

When Rand returned, Marcus gave her a nod of thanks for the tea and arched an eyebrow, “Yeoman, should I be nervous about what Astrometrics has us looking for?”

-Lieutenant Junior Grade Marcus Anders: Chief of Security-

“They want to get scans of a nearby protostar. The computer can tell you what we know about the area. Or Lt Cmdr Alden would know more.” She reached around and with a few deft taps on the console brought up everything the computer had on the area. (OOC: Feel free to make up whatever you want.) Rand wasn’t a scientist or a security officer. Everything in space was encountered with risk, but she had no idea what Anders might be looking for.

“Morning, Lieutenant Anders.” Roman said as he entered. Lovely, more paperwork. Roman began reviewing the reports, creating two piles around his station - “finish and sign” and “needs me to actually do something with this”. Once he was finished, he signed and handed back the “finish” pile back to Rand. Then began working on the other pile.

~ Lt Cmdr Alden, XO/CSO

While she waited for the rest of the reports, Rand fed the finished reports into her PaDD so the next time she stopped by her office she could quickly transfer them into the ship’s computer.

Yeoman Rand

Quinn took a sip from her water bottle and realized it was empty. Shoot. She… didn’t feel like further insulting or leaving any more bad impressions on Rand, so she didn’t say anything. She didn’t feel like causing drama today.

Quinn Dagget, Helm

Anders called out across the Bridge, “Helm, how far away are we from the anomaly?”

-Lieutenant Junior Grade Marcus Anders: Chief of Security-

Alden was still working on reports and so Rand stepped off the bridge again first stack in hand. On her way to process the first stack of reports she was waylaid by three very irate offices who couldn’t seem to work out a very simple scheduling conflict with the Gym facilities. She had no idea why they couldn’t figure it out, but in quick order everything was worked out. On her way back to the bridge she took a detour and then 7 minutes later she stepped back onto the bridge. She walked over to Dagget and handed her a thermos from the Galley with cold water in it. “Refill for you, En. If you need more just tell me, and I’ll get it as soon as I can.” Rand was observant because she was supposed to be. Dagget may not have wanted more, but she would rather bring it than not. She stepped back over to the science station to wait for Alden to finish the reports. The standby science officer just shook his head at Rand. They all knew how much Lt Cmdr Alden hated paperwork. But then again the only person who probably did like it was Rand.

Yeoman Rand

Quinn gave Rand a small nod and smile, taking the Thermos and putting it next to her original. Quinn had never been a hot drinks while on duty kind of person. But water? Ooh, she loved fresh, cold H2O. She took a sip from the new thermos and grinned as she heard ice clicking around inside.

The XO’s question made her glance over at Nav, also wondering the same thing.
