It was a lovely morning. Her first duty shift on helm didn’t start until noon, which meant she had a good long several hours to relax and wake up in her private quarters. Oh, man. That was nice! The station hadn’t been big enough for private quarters for Junior Officers. Quinn stretched out on her bed, eyes closed and mouth curled into a smile. Then a small alarm went off, the computer’s voice waking her from her reverie. =Reminder, you have a meeting with the Captain in… 10.. minutes.=Quinn spat out a Tellarite expletive and jumped out of her bed, snatching her uniform from the desk and tugging it on. She glanced in the mirror and tried to quickly tame her mop of dark hair before giving up and pulling into a very loose ponytail. Something was better than nothing, she decided as she pulled on her boots while simultaneously running out the door, hopping on one foot for a few moments and nearly tripping herself in the process.
Sparing the details of her harrowing trip to the turbolift, she managed to get to the captain’s ready room with just a minute to spare and hit the chime. She was… mostly put together. Her shirt was only half tucked and one of her pants-legs was bunched up awkwardly… but at least she was on time! While she waited the few seconds for Captain Rogers to respond to the chime, she did her best to tuck in her shirt and pants-leg.

Shirley sat at her desk as she read her morning reports from Starfleet command and had an occasional sip of her delicious hazel nut coffee. This was her favorite drink in the morning when she was desperate for caffeine as she had been exhausted after her first day on the Sentinel. Being a Captain looked like it could be quite tiring and she had already knew that the higher up you move in Starfleet, the more thankless the job can be at times. However, she was a natural explorer, loved a challenge, and enjoyed leading others. A notification alerts appeared on her screen which indicated that her meeting with Ensign Quinn was in a few minutes. She did not know anyone on the Sentinel yet and basically inherited the entire crew from the start. Therefore, she pulled up Quinn’s personnel file and reviewed it carefully until she eventually heard the chime. Shirley set down her PaDD and took a look in the direction of the entry door, “Come in.”

Quinn walked into the room and took a few steps before she remembered to salute. “Ens. Quinn reporting for duty, Captain. Or at least reporting for my assigned meeting with you.” She was, in a word, disheveled. Her shirt, while in a better state to what it had been a few moments earlier, was bunched up on one side, along with her pant-leg on the other side. Her hair was mostly in a loose ponytail, although wild wisps of the thick and curly hair were flying free of their loose bounds. Her stance in her salute, at the very least, was good.
