“Well, here’s to a good night of drinking” He raised his glass and downed the contents before ordering himself and the LtCmdr another, the talking, banter and of course drinking went well into the night until kicking out time! Elijah was impressed with his First officer’s ability to hold his liquor and he hoped if he held his own on the bridge at least half as good they’d get along just fine.

  • Captain Elijah Carmichael.
    OOC: Fixing split

By kicking out time, Alden was quite tipsy, but he knew how to not seem quite as tipsy as he was. He could only expect the Captain to have a good ability to hold his liquor and he wasn’t disappointed. But having had a long and rather enjoyable night, he was afraid he may end up hungover in the morning.

~ Lt Cmdr Alden, XO

It was late and Rand was fast asleep. Her first day had ended with an accidental social gathering with the senior staff and far too many people looking at her while she tried to pretend nothing was wrong. Day 2 had been fine, and she was sleeping peacefully, one foot dangling outisde the covers while the rest of her was wrapped up like a burrito. BEEP BEEP. Nope it was not a com it was NOT she wasn’t answering it. It was..nope she was not opening her eyes to check the time. BEEP BEEP. UGH…she rolled over pillow over her head. BEEP BEEP. Crap! She got up and stumbled towards the com panel wiping the sleep from her eyes. She pressed the botton. =0= This is Yeoman Rand.=0=

=0=Sorry Rand, but umm…” Fredrickson? The bartender? “your captain and XO weeeeeell they need a little help getting home.=0=

What? They needed a designated walker? She huffed. =0=Thanks Fredrickson. I’ll be right there.=0= She turned picked up the stuffed Kelpie off her bed and chucked it at Randy. “Get up. The CO and XO are drunk as 10 skunks and now we have to go escort them home before they cause trouble. Really? I don’t get paid enough credits to be that man’s babysitter. And people wonder why the junior officers don’t socialize with the senior staff.” She was already pulling on her uniform. She had no idea what Carmichael was like drunk, but she’d learned years ago that a uniform was good armor against those who were inebriated. “Randy! Get up. I can’t handle two grown drunk men alone!” She pulled out an uniform for him too and tossed it at him all the while grumbling in Gaelic, “Pianta gòrach anns a ’phut, dùisg mi aig an uair mhì-mhodhail seo oir bidh iad ag òl cus.” (Stupid pains in the butt, wake me up at this ungodly hour because they drink too much.)

Randy was, yet again, awoken by his sister at an ungodly hour to go take care of the men that he had been assigned to. The man had a degree in counseling and psychology! He already did his time walking drunk people home in Stirling he didn’t think it’d be the same in Starfleet. He roused and, this time in his emerald green night gown rose and quipped quietly to his sister “”Chan urrainn dhut piuthar? Tha sin na iongnadh.” He tossed her kelpie back at her and started to slip on his uniform. It was too early to worry about a dress and grabbed a uniform kilt instead. Same freedom of his.... legs… just not as well fitting. Those boots though? They were coming with him! “Ok Rand tell me this. Do we know why two men who are advanced in their careers need baby sitters?”

“Randy, na toir orm seo a dhèanamh leam fhèin, mas e do thoil e,” she pleaded as she caught the kelpie and put it back on her bed. She slipped her boots on and stood. “Because Fredrickson, the bar tender, just commed and ‘your captain and XO weeeeeell they need a little help getting home.’ Which translates to they are too far gone to be allowed to wander off alone. The bartender always knows.”

15 minutes later she and Randy walked in to the K5 bar, she nodded to Fredrickson and made her way over to Carmichael with a suppressed sigh. “Captain, let’s go for a walk. Come on.” She took his arm and pulled him to standing.
En Rand

The intention wasn’t to have gotten drunk but between the short stories and the reminiscing Elijah seemed to have forgotten himself, “I am quite aaalrit’ Yeoman” Elijah said standing carefully though he realised quickly that there was a harsh difference between sitting down tipsy and standing so. “Perhaps your assessment of the situation is a little more correct than I’d admit.” He wasn’t drunk he knew that, and he wasn’t about to do anything stupid but he appreciated the Yeomans help. “Well Commander It was a pleasure getting to know you and I am sure we will have plenty more stories to share and make.” He nodded in Roman’s direction. “Ok Yeoman, warp velocity engage!” He chuckled.

  • Captain Elijah Carmichael

Rand rolled her eyes at Randy. Warp velocity engage? Carmichael would fall over if she did that. Instead she tucked her hand politely into his elbow, placing the other firmly on his forearm to keep him steady and steered I. The correct direction. “Yes Sir, this way.” Her tone was very formal. She remembered one of her early advisors in yeoman training Your job is to make sure the captain looks perfect no matter what he has done or not done. If that means he needs a new diet you make sure he follows it, even if you have to mother hen him in private about it. If he is forgetful you nag him, discreetly, until he remembers. If he’s drunk and inappropriate, you are the one he focuses on. If that means people think you’re involved that’s better than the wrong person. I’m not saying be involved but if people think it they will see him as doting rather than a cad. His reputation comes before everything else.. Rand sighed, hopefully it didn’t come to that. Hopefully Carmichael and Alden were ‘nice’ drunks.

Randy meanwhile did the same to Roman and helped him to his feet. He looked to his sister and said softly, “Tha e coltach nach urrainn dha na Sasannaich an deoch a chumail” (Apparently the English can’t keep up the drink) with a chuckle before saying, “To your quarters sir or to the Captain’s for some more frivolity?”

En, Randy

“To my quarters, yeoman,” said Roman, equally tipsy, his speech quite slurred. But a drunk Roman seemed more relaxed and friendly than his sober counterpart as he gave a large smile and began to totter off with Randy. “How helpful of you to come and assist, couldn’t have had better timing,” he said as they walked.

~ Lt Cmdr Alden, XO

Rand grinned at Randy, “An robh dùil agad ri dad nas lugha?” (Did you expect anything less?) Even now he could make her laugh, in a horrid situation. She turned right and then left heading for the airlock. So far they hadn’t seen anyone else.
En Rand, Yeoman

Elijah was grateful for the assistance, he felt terrible that their Yeomans were now being asked to be childminders but he had enjoyed himself too much to not regret thier drinking activity, it was also then that Elijah released who was helping him, Rand a woman and a beautiful one at that “You know Yeoman you’re far too attractive to be in Starfleet” it quickly came to a realisation that he had said his thought out loud.

  • Captain Elijah Carmichael

Rand led the captain around the corner, caught the dock master’s eye and jerked her head back the way they came. The dock master discreetly disappeared. It wouldn’t be the first time he’d made the wise career choice of not seeing a CO or XO too drunk to get home on their own. Rand had been on the station for weeks before Sentinel had arrived. The dockmaster had a love of his grandmother’s apple pie and she’d make sure to pay for the station chef to bake him one. Yeoman carried quite a bit of knowledge and insight to maintain a ship or station. Rand hated socializing and it gave her great anxiety, but she was good at observing and when it came to her job she could expertly play a part. All those acting classes had been worth it. “Thank you captain, but what should I be doing instead?” what else should she say? She certainly couldn’t tell him what she was really thinking, “Càite eile an urrainn dha boireannach dha-rìribh a bhith a ’beantainn ris na reultan? Bidh fir a ’gealltainn mòran ach is ann ainneamh a bhios iad a’ leantainn troimhe. (Where else can a woman actually touch the stars? Men promise much but rarely follow through.)”
Yeoman Rand

He shrugged, well more jerked his body. “I dont know, maybe you should be a meteorologist or politicians I am certainly lucky to have a Yeoman as pretty and intelligent as yourself” He slurred and dragged his feet more out of tiredness than drunkness, since he was convincing himself he was indeed not drunk just tipsy, the age-old lie people told themselves, “Thank you for your assistance,” He said again.
