The colony on Sigma 9 was your run of the mill mining colony that had sprung up when the simple precious ore and metals mining rig had expanded from family growth. It was home to about 950 souls at last report about a month ago from a Federation mining freighter doing a pick up. Check on the Sigma 9 system was pretty run of the mill. Four planets, a pair of small asteroid and cometary fields, and not much else. Nothing really stood out as being flight wise dangerous.
Contained on data disks were further information packets sent from Command they were outlined as follows:
-Sigma 9 Mining Consortium History and Service
-Sigma 9 Senior Personnel Records and Service
-Sigma 9 Survey Scans
-Known Stellar Traffic and Shipping Information (Past 3 months)

Once the order was given docking clamps hissed and thudded off the hull, leaving the Sentinel free to depart at their leisure.

GM CockRoach

“Helmsman, have the docking clamps been released?” He asked looking just to his 11 O’clock towards the back fo the Helman, the navigator to his right and between the two of them the viewscreen. “Viewscreen on” He ordered and the view of the Starbase took up the majority of the screen. “Take us out, nice and steady clear the starbase by 1000m and prepare to engage warp engines factor 1, lets give the engines a little run out before increasing speed”

  • Captain Elijah Carmichael.

“Aye, aye, Captain,” Kohana replied from his seat. With relaxed and practiced movements, his hand flew over the thruster controls as the new USS Sentinel eased out of the dock

En Rand, Yeoman

The turbo lift doors parted and Ford stepped out, eyes sweeping the bridge. The alpha crew was busy at work, as he expected. The captain was receiving morning briefing from his yeoman - and breakfast?

“Good to be the captain,” he said as approached the chair, nodding to Rand. “Morning, Cap,” he greeted the commanding officer. “Security and fire control stand ready for departure.”

“It is indeed Mr Ford, perhaps one day you’ll have your breakfast brought to you too.” Elijah said with a smile passing the PaDD back to Rand “Dismissed Yeoman, thank you again I’ll call you if I need you. Go relax for a bit.” He gave her a polite nod, it was good to give her some time off he knew if he didn’t she’d simple be on call and edge the entire time.

Ford shook his head. “Not my style. A little too personal for my tastes. It does seem nice though,” he added with a wry grin.

He glanced at the meal before giving back on Carmichael. “Murders?” he asked, referencing the ship wide announcement. “We’re an awful big police force to send after some killings.”

COS Ford

“Yes I’d agree but there are murders and disappearances. The murders we can leave mostly to the authorities but missing people is something we may be better equipped to handle. I imagine you and our teams will be particularly busy on this one.” Sitting down Elijah took a bite of his slightly colder bagel but it was still nice, hed have to thank the chefs.

Swallowing the quarter he turned to his Helmsman, “What’s our position Petty Officer are we ready to engage warp engines?” The second part of his question was aimed more to the Engineering chief on the bridge.

  • Captain Elijah Carmichael

“We’ll be clear in 3. . . .2. . . 1. . . and clear, sir. Course is laid in for the Sigma System, and prepared for Warp 1 at your command.,” the helmsman informed those on the Bridge.

They were clear of the system and could go to warp when ready.

En Randy

Ford glanced at the duty roster clipboard he still held. “I’m already putting together a team,” he responded. “One of my sharp guys - I think Smith - one of my bigger ones - Siruk - and the new guy Bolurson.” He dropped the clipboard by his side again. “Think it’ll be good experience for him.”

COS Ford

Roman stood quietly, listening to the conversation on the bridge. “Sounds like a well-rounded team to me,” he said, about the security team Ford was putting together.

~ Lt Cmdr Alden, XO/CSO

“Commander what information do we have on Sigma 9 Mining Consortium History and Service, the Senior Personnel Records and Service, Survey Scans of the system, Known Stellar Traffic and Shipping Information.” He paused thinking, “Refine your search to the past 3 months.” Elijah was particularly interested in the mission they had been given and endeavoured to take it as seriously as a Klingon Invasion.

  • Captain Elijah Carmichael

OOC: Just waiting for someone to pull the data tapes!

GM CockRoach
OOC: Incase missed Rand gave Carmichael the data tapes with his breakfast. But she’s been dismissed so can’t point that out. Hehe
Jenn

OOC; Given the XO is a on LOA atm, Roach just assume he has pulled the info off of the chips if you’d be willing to NE or write it out.

After his meeting with the medical staff the bridge was the next destination. The door swished open with the characteristic swoosh and revealed Paul leaning against the lift wall, he stepped onto the bridge and settled himself close to the captains chair, leaning on the rail his arms folded. “ Well, I’ve got sickbay ready. What’s this big emergency?” he asked

Doc Hudson

“No emergency Doc, though it good you’re here because we’re about to depart the starbase” Elijah looked to the Helmsman for confirmation that they had vectored away from the starbase and were ready to engage warp engines. He’d given the order before but never on his own ship to his own crew so he was a little apprehensive about it all.

Kohana turned in his chair and smiled in the CO’s direction. “I would just like to you remind you, Captain, to enjoy this moment. You only get one first time to make this call as a newly appointed CO.”

Turning back to the console, he placed his hands, ready to initiate the warp drive. “On your order, sir.”

SCPO Black Wolf (helm)

“Thank you Mr Wolf I shall think carefully about my next few words.” Elijah planted both hands on the arms of his chairs and looked to his bridge crew it was often said you could tell the measure of a Captain by the way they proceed to warp. He’d thought it would just come to him but, several words and phrases flickered and jerked in and out of his mind but finally something which was befitting to him, “Mr Wolf, Please…”

A beeping from the communications console chirped. “Ensign Matthews?” Elijah turned to the communications officer who was sitting at his chair, his usual officer had seemingly taken ill. “What is it?” Elijah hoped it was something very important to interrupt his very first warp velocity order, it seemed it wasn’t going to be quiet as memorable as he had hoped.

“Its the Starbase sir, patching through now.” He nodded once to the Captain to signal that he had, Matthews returned to face his console with his job done.

=C= Captain Carmichael, we have one additional crew member to beam aboard, Ensign Carson your Navigator I should believe you may need her.=C= It was the Starbase commanders voice and Elijah could hear the half-cracked smile behind the words.

“Very well, beam her directly to the bridge she’ll have to get settled once we depart. Sentinel out.” He didn’t need a reply since his orders were quite clearly given, moments later the yellow haze of someone undergoing the procedure was being dematerialized in one location and rematerialized in another. It felt like it took a lot longer than a transporter should take but eventually in front of them on the bridge was their Navigator. “Thank you for joining us Ensign, I assume you able to take your post?” He asked his right arm outstretched to the empty navigator seat, how did no one notice that he thought.

Hannah was seated in the galley and had just finished eating her breakfast along with black coffee to drink. Being ready for duty, she wore the standard operations gold top with the navigation insignia on her badge, black belt, slacks, and boots. Her dark brunette hair was tied back in a low loose bun. She was in the process of reviewing the ship layout for the U.S.S. Enterprise on her black personal access display device. This would be her new home for her first career assignment and wanted to familiarize herself early on.

Lieutenant Commander Massaro arrived at the galley clearly looking for Ensign Carson. He spotted her and approached her table. “Ensign Carson. There has been a change of plans. Ensign Caldwell is sick with a virus of some sort and the Doctor did not clear him for duty aboard the Sentinel. The Sentinel is literally leaving the station without a navigator. You are the only other navigator available for assignment on the station. I have transferred you from the Enterprise to the Sentinel effective immediately. Head to transporter room two now. You don’t want to keep Captain Carmicheal waiting.”

Hannah had a befuddled look on her face while the Lieutenant Commander explained the predicament. This change of plans caught the young Ensign off guard. In a swift response, she picked up her PADD, stood up, and turned to Lieutenant Commander Massaro. “On my way now sir.” After jogging through the various corridors of Deep Space K-5, she reached the transporter room. She greeted the man standing at the controls for the transporter. She had interacted with him on several occasions in the past. “Hello Chief. I will have to explain this to you later, but they literally just transferred me to the Sentinel. Could you be a dear and beam my clothing to the cargo hold of the Sentinel after you transport me?”

Chief Reynolds does not appear to be surprised having seen this happen on several occasions throughout his career in Starfleet. “I definitely will. No explanation needed Ma’am. Write me when you get settled.”

Hannah stepped on the transporter pad and made eye contact with the Chief. She nodded once to the Chief. “Energize”.
Her body de-materialized for around twenty seconds and then re-materialized on the bridge of the Sentinel. She adapted to the new environment focusing on her first Captain with a bagel in his hand greeting her. After Captain Carmicheal finished, Hannah had a smile spread across her lips as she looked to her left at the navigation station. “Of course sir.” She then walked to the station and sat down ready to begin her journey aboard the Sentinel.

Ensign Hannah Carson (Navigator)

Once the Ensign was settled Elijah moved back to his seat and sat down, this time the words did come naturally “Helm, Set about Warp velocity 1, ” And he added a little nod just to be sure.
