USS Sentinel

Main Sim - Several Days Later - Arrival At Deba Colony

[snip]

Contact reports as they cleared up found no ID being declared. The outline of the ship though did come up with a match in the database. It was an Orion blockade runner. Moderately armed and shielded, their key defense and offense was their speed, both at sublight and warp speeds given their mission profiles. This ship seemed to keep to the edges of their weapons range probably getting a feel for the Starfleet ship and probably sizing up the colony for some act of piracy. While this hadnt occurred in some time it seems bad luck of timing deemed this to be so this time. As if they didnt have enough problems.

Kohana clenched his jaw. They really didn’t need Orions showing up right now. He was tempted to raise shields, but then they wouldn’t be able to to beam the landing party and children back on board. To the officer manning the science station, he said, “Keep an eye on that ship. I want to know the second it starts to move toward us or the planet.”

=^=Captain, sensors have just picked up an incoming Orion blockade runner, just outside of weapons range. They haven’t shown any aggressive actions. . . yet. Nor have they hailed us. Your orders, sir?=^=

Black Wolf (Helm)

Amber frowned. The joke happiness was gone as she swiftly moved to stat monitoring transmissions and hope the Orion ship couldn’t get to the surface from where they were. She was honestly not schooled in tech in any way, shape or form and had no idea how far a ship could ‘beam’ someone.

Amber COMM

A reply came swiftly: =/\=Mr. Blackwolf, have me beamed aboard immediately, I’ll see you shortly. Keep clear of that ship for now but be ready to raise shields and power phasers, Zarath out./=/\=

Zarath, CO

=^=Aye, sir.=^= Kohana replied, then contacted the transporter room. =^=Transporter room, lock onto the captain’s signal and beam him up immediately.=^=

Scans showed the Orion ship was keeping its distance, though was clearly not hiding their efforts to scan the colony or the Sentinel. They had their shields raised but so far no weapons were powered. NE Pops came over the comm to Amber’s station =/\= NE Pops here, CO is safely back aboard, on your way now..=/\= He said.

GM Cockroach

=^=Thanks Pops,=^= She said and was relieved.

Moments later, Th’elin stepped onto the bridge and headed for the center chair. “Status report, Mr. Blackwolf.” He looked around the bridge, taking in the various readouts and noises, his antennae swaying.

When the CO arrived on the bridge, Amber let out a mental sigh of relief. “Welcome back, Sir,” she said and went back to listening on her ear piece for what may be happening out there in the dark.

Amber Comm

The helmsman slid out of the center chair and paused briefly before returning to his station. “She just appeared before I called you, Captain. Staying at her current range, just out of weapons reach. Her shields are raised, but no weapons are powered up. . . yet. She’s also scanning the surface, for what exactly? I couldn’t say.”

Back at the helm, his hands flew over the console, preparing to move at the captain’s command. “I can’t help but think how interesting it would be to beam a few of those crazed cows onto their bridge, sir.”

Black Wolf (Helm)

“Good eye, but let’s figure out just what they’re looking for. “He clapped the helmsman on the shoulder as they traded places and checked the readout on the Chair’s armrest, flipping two or three rocker switches with a loud clacking sound. Then Th’elin a look at Amber, grinning wryly. “Open a channel and hail them.”
